But since this is an article, I (an Android user myself) will be taking you to the root of the problem and suggesting you some ways to avoid this, and yes you can call me Santa Clause because, at some point, this is exactly what you wished for, out of frustration.
Hence, some developers write little scripts in their websites that make your phone install certain apps or .apk files or other stuff by themselves, as soon as you visit those sites. Of course, you can uninstall/delete them later but this irritates you for sure.
No, this is just an irritating way of earning money as it (usually) causes no harm. However, some sites that can insert viruses or malware or trojans in your devices, so you need to update your antivirus.
Enabling Unknown Sources will allow downloading and installation of applications from any website across the internet. You can disable this feature which will stop apps from downloading by themselves.
Many adware and spam applications cling to famous applications which are safe and are downloaded by the users. The applications are installed in the form of updates and the user thinks that these updates are for the genuine application which they have installed.
Once you have disabled automatic app updates on the Google Play Store, you can manually permit the installation of updates whenever you want. This way, nothing will be updated without your permission.
You need to get the default Stock ROM back which was available for your Android smartphone as it should fix the auto app download problem for you. Installing Stock ROM on your Android device will restrict the installation of third-party applications which we usually see with custom ROMs.
Once you have logged out of Google account on your Android device, change its password and login back in. As all the old sessions will get cleared, it should stop the installation of random applications on your Android device.
Restricting background data is also one of the most helpful ways to prevent automatic unwanted downloads by apps on Android. All the malicious applications consume background data/WiFi connection to download apps automatically or upload your valuable data, logs, and passwords to hackers in the form of an image.
Once you have restricted the background data, it will prevent automatic unwanted apps downloading on your Android smartphone and will allow only all those apps that you have allowed from the setting manually.
Factory reset on Android is also a good option to consider if apps are getting automatically installed on Android devices. Factory restore will delete all the files and settings which you are having on your Android smartphone or tablet, so make sure that you are having a backup of your Android device.
No. Slack will not work on Android 7 devices. Slack requires OS versions of Android 10 or above (app versions of 22.09.10 or above). We only support Android devices that have Google Play services installed by default.

Important: If you use your Chromebook at work or school, you might not be able to add the Google Play Store or download Android apps. For more information, contact your administrator.
Tip: The Google Play Store and any Android apps that you download are only available for the account that signed in first. To use them with a different account, sign out of your accounts and sign in with the account you want to use.
Tip: If your Chromebook has sync turned off, but backup and restore turned on, it can still back up your Android apps. If you have more than one Chromebook, your Android apps and their data might not sync across your Chromebooks fully.
By default, your Chromebook syncs the Android apps on your Chromebook across your other Chromebooks. If your Chromebook doesn't sync your apps, check your sync settings and select Sync everything or turn on Apps syncing. Learn how to change your sync settings.
If you opt to send Google data about the usage and performance of your Chromebook, Google gets diagnostic and usage data about your app activity. Google also receives crash reports. Any crash reports Chrome sends to Google may also include some sensitive information about your Android apps.

Hi! Recently I've released an early version of my app that allows for easy installation of OctoPrint on Android devices. It's a great way to make use of an old phone or tablet. It doesn't require root access and the entire installation process is one click of a button. No need for a raspberry pi
Read more about the project and download the app from GitHub: GitHub - feelfreelinux/octo4a: Use your old Android device as an OctoPrint server.

Feel free to report any bugs and contribute to the project.
I like this. How many old phone - tablets are gather dust that could be used. Are you planning Play store access? Reason I ask is my 3 old Android devices do not have access to the Play Store anymore. (Thanks Google) but other wise work fine. - Just saw, Android 5. OK, well all my old stuff will not work.
The app isn't going to be released on Google Play as Google doesn't allow apps that download external software anymore. I'm currently working on a new update of my app, that will add support for older Androids (Jellybean and higher). I'll let you know once i finish it
It probably won't have enough power to properly charge the phone, it probably will (most printers have backpowering on the USB port) but you might need something like a split cable so you can charge at the same time.
Very cool! I have also done some Android work to the Octoprint API in B4X but stopped short of putting a GUI on it. I am NOT a big Play Store fan at all so not being available on the store is no problem with me! FYI: I have 2 - 10Inch and 1 - 8inch 4.xx Android tablets that do not work with the store anymore.
Wouldn't it be better if there was a way to stop the camera server the same way we can stop the octoprint server? Right now the camera server keeps running all the time. Even if the octoprint server is stopped. It doesn't stop even if we get out of the app. This can occasionally freeze the phone.
Also, while I am not familiar with kotlin and android app development but only react and react-native, I would like to help you out with this project. Feel free to contact me if you need any kind of testing.
Shouldn't have anything to do with this version of OctoPrint, but rather a problem with the printer or cable. Most likely a setting on the printer that has to be modified. See here; Prusa Knowledge Base The step called "First boot of RasPI"
Are you on Wi-fi when you are unable to receive texts? I found the default messaging app fails to work on wifi after the most recent software update from Verizon. I switched to the Hangouts app as my default SMS app and I've had no problems on wifi or 4G.
I have the same behavior as visionaryness described on my droid razr hd. If i'm on wifi, MMS messages show as "downloading" in the default android messaging app, but are actually hung up. It'll remain in that state indefinitely. But as soon as I go off wifi, the MMS shows up.
With the latest version of the android application (3.28.1) I can no longer download files on my phone.
I have this issue since several day from a build by fdroid, and have it since today from a build from google play.
I think they are downloaded, tried with a big file, and I could see the progress dialog, but nothing is written at the final place, and the file size is then displayed as 0.
And indeed refreshing the view does show the file still undownloaded, but with it original size.
Amazon AppStore is the official application for Amazon's store of the same name, which is not available through Google Play. Thanks to this application, not only can you download tons of other free applications and video games for your Android, but you can also buy many others.
Amazon AppStore has a wide variety of applications, rivaling Google Play. What it lacks in quantity, it makes up in quality. The store will also remember the apps you buy and link them to your Amazon account.
