When I'm using Netflix, every few episodes (3-5) when I'm watching on autoplay (which of course is most of the time), the episode will start with no volume at all. Waiting a few minutes does not change it. It only gets fixed when I exit the episode and restart it, which works every time. Obviously I don't want to have to do this indefinitely. Any help appreciated.
I also have a problem that fios TV one does not give the option to autoplay series on netflix. I guess it is useless to me now and I will watch it through my Roku. I also miss the clock and the red delete c button and the yellow triangle button so much. I'm wondering if occasional 4k viewing is worth the upgrade. I think I'll switch back.
When binge-watching Netflix on your phone, TV, or computer, you may have noticed that the subsequent episode of a TV show starts to play automatically after the one you are watching ends. This ensures you do not have to manually play the next episode and can keep the show going without interacting with the remote.
While AutoPlay Next Episode is enabled by default, you or someone who has access to your Netflix profile may have turned it off. So follow these steps to flip it back on and ensure new TV show episodes play automatically after the current one ends.
After this, Netflix should automatically play the next episode once the credits start rolling for the current episode. Note that you may have to wait a few hours for this change to take effect.
In case the problem persists and you have waited a few hours after turning on Autoplay Next Episode, consider turning off and on the phone, computer, TV, or streaming device where you are watching Netflix.
It can also happen that there is an issue with the Netflix app version currently installed on your phone, TV, or streaming device. So, head to the App Store and update the app to ensure the best experience.
If you have connected your phone or tablet using HDMI cable or adapters to your TV, just remove them. If episode autoplay starts working, that means your device does not allow Autoplay Next Episode when connected to an external TV or screen.
I usually watch on my PC via web browser and until December, most shows recorded as a series, you play one episode, the next one autoplays (like Netflix) and you knew it would do that since above the playback track along the bottom edge, a bubble saying "next episode" would pop up if you wanted to go to the next one
Since Dec, this has disappeared. It is disappointing and I have tried toggling on/off the "play next episode automatically" in the options (gear) yet this has continued to be missing. No one seems to know what to do
@akoroshi It works for me, for On Demand episodes as well as for recorded episodes. However, it will only work if the "Next Episode" button appears above the playback timeline, and that seems to require that you are NOT missing the next episode in the sequence. Let's say that you have Episodes 8, 9 and 12 of a given season of some program recorded on your cloud PVR. When you play Episode 8, Episode 9 will autoplay afterwards but playback will stop after that episode. Since episodes 10 and 11 are missing, episode 12 will not play automatically. (I have not tested the case of what would happen when you have several sequential episodes of a program available, with gaps in episodes on the PVR and the "missing" episodes available On Demand... but I think that autoplay should still work.)
If things are not working for you, try clearing your browser data (Cookies, Cache, Site Data and History) to see if that makes a difference. You can also test playback in a clean browsing environment, such as a Guest window.
nothing has worked and this is TV Japan, up to December most series recordings popped up the next episode button but since January not, wondering if Rogers is monkeying around with TV Japan. The gear box > playback has "play next episode" toggled. Very frustrated
Not content to leave well enough alone, I was hacking on my bookmarklet some more. It can now handle crossing between seasons. There is also a bit less guessing going on now, so I am more confident in it.
In addition to handling moving between seasons, it now also adds a little text below the movie to tell you that it is on. You can click this text to change the number of episodes it will play. Entering 0 for the number of episodes will turn this off.
Would you mind if I posted this on my site as one of my discoveries? I really like it and I am a major supporter of Open Source Code/Software. If you allow me, then I will gladly reference you as the author and can even send you a link when I post it to make sure you approve of the post.
I have two screens up and often have one screen showing netflix, fullscreened on the secondary screen, whilst working on the first (chrome, Windows 7).
I assume that because the javascript window isnt the active window? if so is there any way around it?
Hmm, no, I do the same thing, I have not had any problems. I am assuming you are at least getting the dialog asking how many episodes you want to watch when you hit the bookmarklet? Can you tell me what show it is? Perhaps there is a problem with that show. Otherwise, maybe hit F12 and see if you are getting any errors? If so, send them to me and I will take a look.
Yes, this is a known bug. Unfortunately I have not found a way to get the current episode, so I have to go based on what episode it appears that you started at. It would be nice if I could fix this. Currently my advice load a new tab of Netflix, and start it playing on the first episode you want to watch. If I find a way to fix this, I will put out an update.
There is a much simpler implementation of the same concept available. Next-Flik works with all browsers and supports multiple seasons. It runs in the background and only works when Netflix is open and full screen.
This seems to be a problem with some shows. The issue is that Netflix does not provide a reliable way to tell when a show ends so I am unfortunately using a timer to guess when it ends. If I find a better solution, I will post it.
How long until a new update? I just discovered this and it would help me so much. I use netflix to go to sleep and with season that contain 22 minute episodes it would be amazing to not have to arise from sleep to start the next one
Netflix TV series are often divided into different seasons and episodes. While the default setting is to start from the first episode of season 1 and play the subsequent episodes, there may be times when you want to switch to a different season or episode, or even go back to a previous episode. Fortunately, changing seasons or episodes on Netflix is a simple and straightforward process on all platforms, including smart TVs, iPhones, Android devices, and the website.
Netflix has a convenient feature that automatically plays the next episode once the current one finishes. This feature is enabled by default on all platforms. However, if Netflix autoplay isn't working, you can manually enable it for each profile.
That's all you need to know about changing seasons or episodes on Netflix. If you want to watch Netflix with friends, learn how to do a Netflix party on TV or on Android and iPhone. Additionally, you can explore the best apps for Netflix users to enhance your streaming experience.

Long before streaming was a thing, falling asleep with the TV on meant that you might wake up in the early morning hours, only to find static on the set because the channel went offline for the night. The modern version of this is just as common: you fall asleep with Netflix playing, only to wake up and discover that the TV turned itself off at some point during the night. Why?
According to the Netflix Help Center, the company added the "Are You Still Watching?" prompt to its platform for two reasons: so that you won't needlessly use up internet data by streaming to an empty room, and so that you won't lose your place in a series if you fall asleep while it is playing. The company attempts to strike a reasonable balance between getting verification and not interrupting your shows too frequently. As such, you can expect to see the pop-up after watching three episodes of the same TV show in a row or 1.5 hours of uninterrupted watching. When this feature was initially launched, many users were divided about it.
On the one hand, it can help save you from a startling bill if you're on a metered internet connection, such as a limited data mobile plan, because streaming video tends to use up considerable amounts of data. However, many users who enjoy binge-watching TV shows or streaming content for background noise find the pop-up annoying, as it forces their attention back on their TV after a relatively short period of time. To address those complaints, Netflix added the option to turn on autoplay.
Among the several ways to turn off Netflix's "Are You Still Watching?" pop-up, enabling autoplay is the easiest and most straightforward option. By enabling autoplay, all of the episodes for a particular show will play without any interruptions from Netflix. Here's how to enable autoplay in your Netflix account settings:
With this feature enabled, Netflix will automatically play the next episode in a series, meaning you won't have to deal with the prompt appearing every three episodes. You can disable the feature at any time by following the same steps and unchecking the box.
You can turn off Netflix's "Are You Still Watching?" prompt using your iPhone, iPad, Android phone, or tablet, which will enable you to watch content on the go without the prompt appearing. To disable autoplay in the Netflix mobile app, follow these instructions:
