Thanks. Yes, I discovered that is how you rename... which is quite horrible as now I have the file name in huge letters at the top or my document!! There isn't one rational argument why having my filename as the first huge line of my document make any sense Sadly, this one useless feature almost completely breaks any chance of using "paper", which is really unfortunate because it is otherwise really good.
If I were to rename a feature class and related attachment table, would this cause any harm to the attachment relationship and functionality?...or would it continue to work?...Would I need to alter the attachment relationship properties?
For example, I have a feature classes named: FCTest and the attachment table is called FCTest__ATTACH. If I were to rename the feature class to BuildingTest and the attachment table to BuildingTest__ATTACH, would this screw things up? If so, is there a workflow that would preserve the attachments to continue working after renaming the feature class and attachment table?
I know this post is a bit old but did you ever find a workflow for this? So far in testing this, I lose the relationship when I rename anything. I can copy into a new FGDB and maintain, but renaming the feature class drops the relationship. i have been able to successfully merge two FC together and re establish relationship and during that process rename the FC. However just a simple rename does not work.
In Catalog go to the GDB containing the feature with the associated attachment table and relationship table. Select the feature layer, then right click and choose copy. Paste the copied feature back into that same GDB. This creates a new feature layer re-named [feature name]_1 along with a table named [feature name]_ATTACH_1 and a relationship file named [feature name]_ATTACHREL_1. DO NOT DELETE THE ORIGINAL FEATURE OR ASSOCIATED FILES YET. Next re-name [feature name]_1 to [NewName] then delete the table [feature name]_ATTACH_1 (this also deletes [feature name]_ATTACHREL_1). Now right click [NewName], choose "Manage" then "Create Attachments". New files are added [NewName]_ATTACH and [NewName]_ATTACHREL. Next right click [NewName]_ATTACH then "Load" and "Load Data". A Wizard will pop up with an explanation screen, choose next. On the second screen at the "Input Data" box click "Browse" and choose the original "[feature name]_ATTACH" file then click "Add" then "Next". Click "Next" through the remaining screens until you reach "Finish" You will now have a new feature layer connected to the associated attachments with the new name. Check to make sure the newly renamed feature layer works properly and has your attachments. The original feature layer and associated files may now be deleted leaving you with only the renamed feature layer. Hope this helps.
I would absolutely love to be able to rename files within the platform. We try to keep our file names consistent so that we know what they are and it would be so much more convenient to be able to upload files quickly with whatever name they already have and then edit the name afterward.
We have users who upload files, and those users give their files names that are vary greatly. If the Monday.com platform could rename uploaded files to a standard naming convention, that would be excellent. Are plans in place for this capability?
Once you are happy with your final result and the end user is happy to formalise the form, is there a way for me to rename my 'testsurvey37' so that it is formally renamed in the Survey123Connect etc? Or am I better off trying to make a new form and using the testsurvey37 xls file?
There is no formal procedure for renaming a survey as it involves multiple parts. There is survey Form item, the Feature service and the Folder. If you want to rename all 3 you can not do this easily without likely breaking something, but it is possible if you update all the itemIds in all the required files.
If you just want to change the title of the survey that the users see in the field app, web app or website, you can simple rename the Title in Connect and re-publish. But this does not change the Folder name and Feature service, or rename the xslx file and other files inside the Form item.
When working with a Windchill environment, in general, rename actions should be performed in Windchill. If you rename in Creo then you get the behavior you described above. Are you having trouble using the Rename action on family table instances within Windchill?
I just did a quick test and was able to successfully rename both generic and instances using the Windchill Rename. When the instance or generic is retrieved the next time within Creo the names will get updated.
You do have the ability to rename in a particular area of the design only (Rename by Window), check if this is the case using Logic > Auto Rename Refdes> List (rename area list) or looking in the RENAME.LOG. If it has an active rename window defined then it can reset to rename the entire design using Logic > Auto Rename Refdes> Design (rename area design)
For example, I just created a simple report for a colleague of mine looking at tracking codes and the number of clicks. For number of clicks I used 'Tracking Code Instances'. As a regular AA user, I understand what Tracking Code Instances means but someone who isn't a bug AA user might not know what it means. So, it would be good if I could right click on the metric and have an option to rename it. This renaming would only exist in the specific project.
I used the Rename option from the Manage option of the context-sensitive menu in the Browser to rename my project1. This seems to work. However, I noticed a project1_attachments.zip file alongside project1. This .zip file seems unchanged by the Rename. I am concerned that when I copy this project to a new location, something will break, especially if I have multiple projects in a directory (maybe I should avoid that).
I need help understanding precisely how qiime feature-table rename-ids works, especially its metadata file and column parameters. Or maybe I'm using the wrong tool, and would welcome advice on a better approach. I've searched already (Merging Error Table and RepSeq was useful but not directly solving if I read it right); I've read the glossary; I'm running qiime2-2021.2 through conda.
I hope I'm in the right area. How do you rename a stack now? Use to be I could right -click and rename ( I'm pretty sure ) and now I can't figure it out. I want the simplicity back . Here is my version
Thankfully renaming a notebook is still possible. TIP: you need to open "My Notebook List" by clicking on notebooks as shown below, then use F2 or the three dots menu to rename. It is possible to rename stacks as well, but it is like using shovel instead of a spoon to eat lunch. Nothing happens when you press F2 or right click a notebook. It is weird and counter intuitive way to rename
B: Individual notebook. Can't right-click. When I left-click to select, the three dots do appear at position C. Not an intuitive place to put rename options, but at least it's there once we know where to look.
First, it's been nearly impossible to find any help on this topic. Second, when I do find help, it's not helpful. I keep reading, "Right click". Well, that does absolutely nothing. No menu comes up. There aren't three dots next to my stacks, either, even when I hover the mouse/pointer over the stack I want to rename. I'm on a MacBook. It's OS is 14.0.2. The Evernote version is 10.5.7.
How to get to "the Notebook Page": In the left panel, the folder that contains all notebooks and note stacks is labeled "Notebooks". Clicking on that folder brings you to a completely different page (there is no View > Notebooks in my version of Evernote 10.9.10 on Mac). This page lists all the notebooks and at the far right is a three-dot "more" menu. That is where you can rename the stack.
It seems Evernote is reducing functionality to match Evernote on the Mac. Over the years I have gotten a bunch of Mac users to adopt Evernote, but it was always so clunky to explain to them how to do things like rename notebooks, because right clicking was not made available to them in the Mac version. Looks like Evernote has decided to make the Windows and Mac versions converge by a least common denominator approach.
It's completely ridiculous that there's a thread this long re: renaming a stack. Why did the developers make it so hard? Why can't you just right-click a stack and rename it?? I've had Evernote for many years and the interface is still baffling. The hoops you have to jump through just to reorganize notes into stacks is insane. How hard is it to code drag-and-drop?
I'm refactoring some old code. I used really short names for local variables, which I'm coming to regret. Is there an easy way to rename local variables in scope using Wolfram workbench?
