pre-match contact

i personally didnt hear a peep from any of the programs i interviewed
at. i would be curious what places contacted people pre-match. this
came up on sdn but nobody wanted to bite.

Have not heard anything either. Some people on SDN say they have been
contacted but did not state where.

all the 'top five' places contact, with the except most years of
stanford. i know this for sure because where i didn't get a call
from, at least one of my muddphudd friends did, my year. clearly they
weren't playing us b/c it wasn't like one program called 5
muddphudds. probably a lot of the other programs call too.

you need to realize how paranoid programs are that they won't match in
their 'top 10" etc. it's a big deal for them. on the other hand, it
happens plenty, and many people who aren't called match. but usually
not at a 'top' program.

what about this year though? any non-md/phds applying this year hear
from harvard, penn, ucsf, yale or stanford?

michigan, a top 5 program, did not contact anybody (or so they said at
the interview)

That is not true. They have called prior to rank deadline in the past
and I know someone who received a call this year.
I think their interview message was not to waste your time writing a
thank you, because they make their rank list right after the
interview, that it will not help to contact them in any way.
