Hello DEREN members,

At this point DEREN does not send out newsletter-like communications.  However, I have recently received quite a number of updates, notifications, and activities that DEREN members might be interested in.  Therefore, I have pasted text below and attached a number of documents for your perusal.  I will also be sending out a more formal "Save the Date" invitation for Convergence which will be happening on October 4th, so keep your eyes peeled for that as well.  Happy spring everyone.  Hope you are all enjoying the promise and warmth of spring in our beautiful corner of Maine.

Cheers,
Anica Miller Rushing

* Eagle Hill Institute in Steuben, Maine is offering over 25 one-week courses that could provide unique educational opportunities to researchers and educators in our down east area. Our field courses are of special interest because many of them are specialized and all of them focus on the natural history of one of North America’s most spectacular and pristine natural areas, the coast of eastern Maine from Acadia National Park to Petit Manan National Wildlife Refuge and beyond. Our summer field courses are taught by experts from the US, Canada, and England. Course participants include teachers, under graduate and graduate students, professional field biologists, university professors, personnel from federal and state agencies, numerous environmental organizations and consulting firms, and beginning and advanced amateur naturalists. Residents of Washington and Hancock receive a 20% discount on tuition and housing. Teachers can earn 4 – 5 Continuing Education Units from University of Maine, Orono. (Schedule attached)

*  The 2015 annual report of the North Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative is out and attached for your review.

*  OceansWide has released their exciting summer programming and summer camp opportunities.  I have attached their programming overview.
