Please read the attached flyer and think about if this would be something your land trust would like to take part in. I welcome chatting with any of you about the details and process if you are not sure this is something you want to take advantage of.
Be part of land stewardship, be part of citizen science, be part of this great opportunity!
2. Convergence 2016 planning is underway. http://www.schoodicinstitute.org/event/deren-convergence-2016/
History and Potential of Landscape Conservation in Downeast Region.
Plan to join DEREN, October 4, 2016, for its sixth annual conference dedicated to strengthening and promoting conservation collaborations in Hancock and Washington counties, Maine. CONVERGENCE serves as the annual networking meeting of conservation practitioners, educators, researchers, and managers in eastern Maine.
The focus of this year’s CONVERGENCE will be “History and Potential of Landscape Conservation in Downeast Region.” We will look back into the history of our region to inform the future. We will share stories and lessons from our region. We will work on communication and dialogue skill building so that we can be a more effective part of the community narrative.
We will inform and critique DEREN’s on-going strategic planning process. And, perhaps most importantly, we hope to hear from you all. The stories you share at lunch, the conversations that happen over breaks, the feedback you receive on your talk will all help us to move conservation forward in our precious and vulnerable region of Maine. We hope you will leave Convergence with renewed enthusiasm for this valuable work, enhanced skills, stronger collaborations, and a wealth of new ideas.
Please visit our website for information about DEREN and CONVERGENCE and check back in a few weeks for information about registration and speakers. Convergence is held in conjunction with the Schoodic Institute Science Symposium, October 5, 2016. Stay for both conferences. Lodging is available on the Schoodic Institute campus.
