I have had an email conversation with the coordinator at Middleton Lodge which is a care home across the main road in Littleover. I will discuss this with everyone at the meeting next Tuesday.

Anyone interested?

Bernard

Thank you ever so much for your email.

If you’d be interested, we’d love to invite your group, as guests, to our Gentlemen’s Club on a Thursday afternoon of your choosing.  Free of charge and all refreshments (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) will be provided.

It would be a wonderful opportunity for our gentlemen to meet new people and chat with yourselves about all the handicrafts your group engage in.  Perhaps, if any of them show an interest, we may be able to take them along to your sessions!

I think connecting with the local community is so important in ensuring our residents aren’t isolated when they move into a care home.

Best wishes,

You don't often get email from ber...@longlands.net. Learn why this is important

Rhiannon,

Apologies for missing this email when it first came in. Derby Makers meet at Grange Hall Community Center on Park Lane twice a month. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Wed of each month at 7pm. Our next meetings will be 12th and 26th Nov and we welcome guests and visitors.

We are a small group of enthusiasts with interests in all crafts including woodwork, metalwork, textiles and electronics. We have access to a laser cutter which is useful for cutting wood and plastics as well as engraving a variety of materials. Grange Hall has some out buildings within the grounds that we are looking to repurpose them and so that is an on going project.

At this stage I am not sure what would be of interest to you and how we could collaborate but we are always open to ideas and suggestion.

Regards
Bernard Killeen (chairman, Derby Makers).

Good afternoon,

I was wondering whether your group have had chance to consider the below proposal?  Our residents would love to connect with groups in the local area.

Many thanks in advance,

That sounds fab. My partner was in a care home for many years and keeping the residents engaged and active was a very lovely thing to see.
They may be frail but most had active minds. (Jim did not but that's another story lol) I would def be up to meeting any residents if they are interested.
Talk to you at the next meeting.
Cheers
Gwen
