Dear friends and colleagues!
Let me give you a short summary of my ROADTRIP TO THE WHITE HOUSE. As you probably know I have been traveling through the United States for one month. During this trip I faced numerous adventures, met a wide number of magnificent people and explored the diverse nature of this beautiful country.
This is the tour I took so far: New York City - Philadelphia - Pittsburgh -Weirton -Punxatawney - Erie -Youngstown - Toledo - Detroit - Chicago - Omaha - Detroit - DeKalb - Boulder - Denver - St. Paul. You can find my current location here: http://snurl.com/3ld7k
On my trip, I did reporting on the decisive issues of the presidential elections: I explored steel mills in the two most important battleground states Pennsylvania and Ohio, I spoke to people threatened by poverty, foreclosures and economic decline, and I almost got beaten up in a meat packing plant in Omaha.
Last week, I took part in the Democrat`s National Convention and this week, I will follow the Republican Party in St. Paul. I will continue traveling until the 4th of November when the Americans choose their next president.
Please check out my website www.derbernold.com. It contains a selection of my columns which are published in the Wiener Zeitung, the oldest daily in the world (founded in 1703). It also contains photos, audio slidehows and videos of my trip plus many useful tools to make your life even more joyful.
Sadly, most of the content of www.derbernold. com is still in German. BUT I just recently started the English edition. I am very pleased to introduce Laurence Witherington and Tim Peterson - two extremely talented Columbia alumni - to be my copy editors.
