We have an immediate need for a Rails developer to join our team in Broomfield who would thoroughly understand and enjoy the rhythm of an agile project and the feel of a well tested code base.
Below are listed a few of the things we believe in, if they line up fairly well with your beliefs we would love to talk with you.
Testing infects every part of our day. We write tests to help explain our requirements. We write tests to guide our design and coding. We believe that a small amount of continuous investment in our tests pays off large returns in the end.
We build by feature. This means that our developers have to be fluent from the UI all the way back to the database. We have no use for specialists that want to live solely in one architectural layer.
We work as a Project based team. This means that the team will have all the roles necessary to complete the project. No matrix'ing, no functional groups, no shared resources. We are it.
Below are a few of the technologies that we currently use to get through our day. You should be fluent in a few, familiar with most and exposed to all:
Ruby, Rails, Git, Cucumber, CruiseControl, JQuery, Shoulda, MySQL, Apache, Passenger, capistrano...just to name a few.
About the project:
We build software that allows utilities to curtail load on the electrical grid so that they can meet demand without building more power plants. So this puts us squarely in the Smart Grid...Green Energy space. If the idea of writing software that controls devices in the real world instead of simply updating another social network page excites you...then we should definitely talk.
About the culture:
We have a collaborative team that pairs a lot, works as balanced week and spars over chess when we need a break.
About the interview process with us:
We will ask you to sit down at a computer and actually build something.
We will ask you to stand up at a white board and think through a design challenge.
We are more interested in your thought process than your specific answers in many cases
Finally, we have a small and extremely skilled team...and intend to keep it that way. Our belief is that five or six excellent people can out perform ten or fifteen good people. So anyone that joins our team will be either highly skilled in Rails, or just plain gifted in software development at large...or preferably both ;)
Are you one of those few?
