First Venture Technologies Corp.: EU Food Safety Authority to Examine
Ethyl Carbamate Risk in Food & Drinks

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 5, 2006) - First
Venture Technologies Corp. (TSX VENTURE:FEB) reports that the European
Food Safety Authority ("EFSA") has issued a request for data (the
"RFD") to member states on the presence of ethyl carbamate and cyanides
in foods and beverages. The RFD states that the EFSA has been asked to
provide a scientific opinion on the risks to human health related to
the presence of ethyl carbamate in foods and beverages, in particular
alcoholic beverages. EFSA notes that at the 64th meeting in February
2005, the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives concluded
that ethyl carbamate is genotoxic and is a multisite carcinogen in all
animal species tested, and is considered to be a potential carcinogen
in humans.

EFSA was established by the European Parliament in 2002 following a
series of food scares in the 1990s which undermined consumer confidence
in the safety of the food chain. EFSA's two main areas of work are:
risk assessment and risk communication. The RFD may be viewed on the
EFSA's website

cyanides.html). (Due to the length of this URL, it may be necessary to
