Under the presumption that families which have suffered death(s) must
be some of the most severely affected, a group of US and UK based
expats have come together and launched United Bangladesh Appeal - a
joint effort to compensate each family (where a member died) with a
cash grant of $100. As the prime mover of the effort, I have
committed $50,000 of my own funds and pledged to raise an additional
$150,000 from my close friends for the effort. Until today, however,
we were stymied with respect to finding information about the deceased
and, perhaps more importantly, about their next of kin. I understand
that the list for Bagerhat has been compiled and the ones for Borguna,
Patuakhali and Pirojpur are on their way.

Can any of you please post a copy on the CMDP or other relevant
website? Alternatively, can you point us towards the source or better
still, provide us with an electronic version of the list? We need it
to mobilize our local partners in Bangladesh to verify NOK and
subsequently arrange for the disbursement. We would also appreciate
if anyone knows of a banking 'czar' who can help smooth the way for
all these folks (we suspect most don't have bank accounts) to open
accounts.
