Seethe following sections for instructions on changing your email account password for several major email providers. If your email account provider isn't listed, contact your admin or the email provider's help desk.

Other email accounts will require you to change your email account password on the website for the account provider. For example, to change the password for an Xfinity account, go to the Xfinity website and follow the prompts. Many email account providers have slightly different steps for changing a password.

You jus need to get into the settings of the mail account by going to settings - Mail Contacts and Calenders - (Your Yahoo Mail account) - Again the email ID - there, you'd see the password section, delete the exising password and then insert the new password and click on done. Close the settings and then fetch the new mails by opening the mail app. This should solve your problem ?

I just saw sagarpachorkar's reply. I have the same issue as tedlux. My Yahoo account was hacked, I changed the password: it works fine on my home computer but my iPhone won't accept the new password (as per sagarpachorkar's advice). I have 2 other Yahoo email accounts on my iPhone - they continue to work fine (no password change) but my primary Yahoo email won't send/receive emails even though I've changed to the new password on the iPhone. It either times out during "veryifying" or says password incorrect (which it isn't - am very careful entering it) or says Yahoo server not available. I think Yahoo is having some major issues right now.

This is gtsing1311 again : forgot to say my husband also changed his Yahoo email password at the same time I did (on the big home computer), and changed it on his phone successfully as he was able to receive/send emails immediately on his handphone after the password change: the difference is, his phone is a Samsung Galaxy - so he had no issues with the Yahoo interface on it. Apple and Yahoo need to figure this out, as I've seen dozens of emails on this topic in the past month or so.

Hi, thanks for your help, but still stuck. After completing your (4), it goes into "Verifying" and then times out. I have changed the time-out auto-lock to 4 minutes (from 2). I try again and then it says username or password incorrect - I know they are not as I am in the Yahoo account using that info on my big home computer. I have tried using past passwords just in case there's some residual memory. But no good: still no email on my iPhone. Really frustrated with this and don't think contacting Yahoo will do any good as they will blame Apple. I will see a friend today who is a bit of an Applie iPhone jock and see if we can work it out. Will post if solution found.

It's a good idea to change your online account passwords every once in a while. If you'd like to do this for your Yahoo account, Yahoo makes it easy to change your password on both its site and mobile app. We'll show you how to do that.

Note that if you have enabled the Account Key option in your Yahoo account, you will not see the option to change your password. You must turn this option off to be able to modify your account password.

On a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, use the Yahoo website to change your account password. If you haven't chosen a new password yet, check out our guide on creating and remembering strong passwords.

After spending a good deal of time and effort trying to make Thunderbird get along with Yahoo, I finally figured it out. If you are reading this, you have probably already called Cox only to find out that they have washed their hands of the whole email thing and will only refer you to a phone number for Yahoo. And of course Yahoo is not set up to handle this, so you will wait in the phone queue for half of forever only to find out that they don't know how to set it up either. So in the hope that my experience may help some other poor slob, I present the below instructions, and I hope it helps. I am using the Thunderbird program to access emails on a Windows computer, however I suspect the settings will be the same for anyone using Thunderbird.

Now log out of the Yahoo webmail and open Thunderbird. I have my email accounts and corresponding folders located in a column on the left of the page. Yours may be set up differently, but mine is the default and I will base detailed instructions on that. Go to the left column and click on the line that shows your complete cox email address. If you have multiple addresses, you will need to perform the following instructions for each of them. Now look to the top right of the new page and click on "account settings". At the bottom of the settings page is the line "Outgoing Server (SMTP)", and at the far right of that line is a box that says "Edit SMTP server"; click on it. A pop-up window will open, adjust the settings as shown below:

Now close Thunderbird and reopen it. You will now be asked for a password for each of your email addresses. Use the new password that you used to set up the Yahoo webmail. Congratulations you have mail! If you want to use POP instead of IMAP I suggest you first set it up with IMAP and then go back and change the setting after you know it is working.

I was initially very puzzled about exactly which password you were talking about. With my Yahoo account, I have one password which is used on my Windows 7 computer, Windows 10 laptop and Android phone - and if I change my password on one device, it definitely has to be changed on all. So, I was struggling to understand your problem.......

EDIT Thinking again about the above, then if you are already using an app-specific password then yes, presumably it only applies to that particular app....... so maybe that is what you were asking about! Apologies if I made my answer above more complicated than necessary!

Can you confirm if you manually enter the password on the desktop or is it already saved? I want to ensure the password you're entering Yahoo! Mail isn't case sensitive. Often times the password is rejected due to minor differences.

I use Outlook e-mail client and this morning it would not retrieve e-mail from one of my e-mail accounts (I have several). There was a message about password, but I didn't make any changes to Outlook at that time.

Every time I now try to log in to mergers email online yahoo account I get the message to update my password. However I successfully change the password but when I log in the next time I AGAIn have to update my password so that I am rapidly running out of passwords to use. How can I get Rogers to "save" my new password??

I initially setup dropbox through yahoo, then accidentally set up a gmail account on a new iMac computer. The dropbox App won't get rid of the Gmail account. I can't change the default Email back to Yahoo, and it's not letting me delete the dropbox app to start over. Can anyone help?

Yes, I can switch the accounts just fine. But everytime I click on the desktop dropbox app, it reverts to the gmail account that I'm not using. I can't get rid of the gmail account. I can't change the default account. And I can't uninstall dropbox to start over. When I try to install a new dropbox app from the yahoo account, it won't let me, because I already have dropbox installed.

When I click on the desktop icon, it opens the gmail account, which has nothing in it. So then I go to the dropbox icon and click "view on dropbox.com", which takes me to the Gmail account, which also has nothing in it. Then I click signout. Then I can mannually enter my yahoo Email and password, and access the web dropbox version of my dropbox account. But the desktop app doesn't work, and as soon as I close it, it will revert to the gmail account again, and I have to do that process every time. I cannot delete the app from my desktop and start over, and I can't get it to ignore that gmail account and just use my yahoo account. If I could just delete the app and start over I could fix it. But it won't let me throw it in the trash.
