Centrifugesthat accept microplates are typically larger units that take up valuable space on the laboratory bench. The unique design of the Mini Plate Spinner results in a compact centrifuge that has an extremely small footprint - just 6 x 6 inches. Two standard microplates are loaded through a slot in the top of the centrifuge unit. Sealed plates are loaded vertically - surface tension keeps samples in place so there is no danger of spilling samples.

Upon closing the lid of the unit, the rotor quickly accelerates the microplates to 2,500 rpm. Pressing the open button engages the brake and brings the rotor to a stop. For temperature sensitive applications, the Plate spinner may be used in a cold room.

I am having issues with all the spinners where the values increase or decrease in seemingly arbitrary values. System units are set to feet, display units to cm with 3 decimal places. Spinner snap does affect this, regardless of the precision it is set to (1-0.01), it only changes the increment size, but does not resolve the arbitrariness. I am using 3ds Max 2020.1.

Hi @Intuos5 Are they incrementing by what you would consider large values? Does it happen when wrapping around upper and lower screen borders? We have a known issue that we believe to have a potential resolution for, current testing in our beta program. If you think this sounds like the same issue, I invite you to check out our beta program and help accelerate the testing so that we can get this out in a public release as soon as possible.

Hi @brentscannell, I am certainly not trying to increment by large values, I was hoping to get something like 1 cm or 1 mm increment by using the spinner snap toggle. The spinner snap toggle behaves the way it should when modifying values of an object, however, it does not do so when clicking on spinner arrows nor when using the extrude caddy. There may well be more functions misbehaving, because the same happens with the bevel function on both the height and outline spinners.

I've attached a screen recording in the hopes of making things more clear. Note that the initial action on the spinners increments a weird value, but that later adjustments occur on whole centimeters.

I think I understand what's going on: the increment value is using the system unit rather display unit, and my hunch is that you have your system units set to "feet". Each time you increment, you are adding 1 foot (30.48cm).

The click and drag behaviors is a bit different though and I don't believe respects the snap setting. The way they increment while dragging is a bit different between different tools/spinners in 3ds Max, but for the most part they scale the current value, meaning if you start with a 2000cm value, it won't increment the values 1cm at a time while dragging. We are aware of this particular inconsistency and are discussing internally about what the optimal behavior ought to be in these cases.

Correct, that's for Revit interoperability. Upon changing the system units, there remains a problem, so I've attached another video, which I hope will be useful to you. What I am seeing is that once the arrows were used to change a type-in result, the spinner behavior no longer adheres to the increment it was set to. This is the case for all spinners as it seems.

My personal preference, now that I am aware of the inconsistency between spinner and arrow, would be to set a spinner and spinner arrow increment in the preferences. For example, have the arrow increment set to 10m and have the spinner increment per cm, so best of both worlds, hit the arrow for large values and adjust by spinner, rather than having to cover it all by spinner. It would allow for reduced mouse movement. Besides, user preferences may vary and could be covered by a preference setting.

As far as click and drag spinner manipulation, there's no doubt that we have some work to do here. It wouldn't be fair to tag this as a single bug or something as simple as that. I appreciate your input on this topic, and while we don't have any immediate plans to start working on spinners, I do think that this is an excellent research candidate to start formulating a development plan for. Have you checked out our ideas forum?

I don't recall off the top of my head if a similar feature improvement has been proposed, but this could be an excellent place to log this idea and start some discussions about ideal spinner behavior. May I ask you to see if an idea is already started that resembles this topic, and to start a new one if you don't find something fitting?

Hi!

I use the spinner where I can choose differnt items.

But always when I open the spinner the first is already selected.

Is there a solution that no item is selected.

Maybe it is possible to use only a text or heading for the first item which can not select.

example:

Hope somebody can help me.

kindly regards

Nothing in Prompt

Heading is first item in List

Selection Index set to 1

(Nothing will happen if the user selects item 1, the spinner just closes)

After selecting you need to reset selection.index to 1

For example, in one of the points I have "Select time" and everything is fine the first time I call the Spinner from the button, but when I want to select the time again without changing the screen, the selection remains on "Select time" and that's it. I can't get the clock to toss me again

The WhirlyQ Spinner turns lots of kids at once for maximum playground fun. It provides valuable spinning motion for healthy growth and development, and the swooping spindles provide visual stimulation as well as beauty. With the base platform at transfer height, kids of all abilities can enjoy the swirly action.

The app I'm creating is a task app and I have a spinner for the user to select a specific action like delete the task. After the user is done selecting the thing they want, I want the selection to automatically be "Options" again.

Having a selection that essentially should not be selected is bad practise! Your spinner should be set to the most common/likely choice. The component makes it obvious there are other options by design.

I usually call a spinner from a button, setting the spinner height and width to 1x1 pixels to effectively hide it (the spinner must be visible in order for it to work) I then set my title/default/non-working element which is the first element, no action is taken if this is selected, and makes your real elements available for selection.

Are you accessing the published survey from the Survey123 web app or from the field app? And have you updated either Connect or the Survey123 field app since you tried it last time? If you send your XLS form, I can see if I run into the same issue.

Thanks for including that image. In the screen cap on the right it looks like you're viewing the published survey in the web app. Unfortunately the spinner and numbers appearances are not supported on the web app. I just published an Appearances sample and it looks like those two appearances are working as they should be in the Connect preview and in the field app.
