I hope you'll join me in supporting this special fundraising
opportunity for Johnson Creek Watershed Council made possible by the
generosity of the Mintkeski Family Fund (see details below).
I give regularly to Johnson Creek Watershed Council because they are doing
some of the most important on-the-ground community level work in Oregon,
protecting, enhancing, and restoring the most populated urban and
urbanizing watershed in the State and setting a model for others.
For example, the Watershed Council's in-the-trenches advocacy in the
planning and implementation of urban growth boundary expansion areas like
Pleasant Valley and Springwater promises to set a new standard for
efficient, livable, and ecologically sustainable urban communities in the
region and across the state.
JCWC's public outreach and education sustain and foster a local
environmental stewardship ethic in some of the most diverse and fastest
growing communities in Oregon.
This will sound like a canned pitch but it is true: these are just two of
the reasons why I support Johnson Creek Watershed Council. I hope you will
too.
See below for details on how your contribution to JCWC can be doubled if
given within the next month.
Thanks,
Jim Labbe
Former JCWC board member

DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT ON JOHNSON CREEK WITH A GIFT TO JCWC TODAY!
*********************************************************************
Imagine dozens of instream logs and boulders at the mouth of Johnson
Creek, providing critical resting areas not just for Johnson Creek salmon,
but for all the salmon migrating into and out of the more than 11,000
stream miles of the Willamette River basin. Imagine an innovative green
MAX light rail station that draws the attention of hundreds of daily
commuters to nearby Johnson Creek as a place where humans, fish and
wildlife thrive.
These aren't pipe dreams. We are advancing these projects as you read this
e-mail. Last month, we secured a $137,000 grant award, over 50% of the
funds we need to implement our salmon habitat project at the mouth of
Johnson Creek. And we are currently leading the community in designing a
Tacoma Street MAX station (a station on the Portland - Milwaukie light
rail line opening in 2015) that features and enhances Johnson Creek with
new aquatic and streamside habitat, on-site stormwater management, and a
boardwalk and platform overlooking the creek.
We are poised to do great things for Johnson Creek, but we can't do it
alone. You can help us finish these and other exciting projects by making
a tax deductible contribution to the Johnson Creek Watershed Council
today. The Mintkeski Family Fund of The Oregon Community Foundation looks
forward to maximizing your impact on Johnson Creek by matching all new and
increased gifts to the Council, up to $10,000.
For example, if you give a first-time gift of $50 to the Council, the
Mintkeski Family Fund will also give $50 for a total of $100. And if you
are a returning donor, and you give more than your last gift to the
Council, the Mintkeski Family Fund will match not just the increased
amount, but your entire new gift (i.e. if you gave $100 in July of 2009,
and you give $200 today, the Mintkeski Family Fund will also give $200 for
a total of $400).
But in order to take advantage of the opportunity to double the value of
your contribution, your gift must be received by August 31, 2010.
To make a donation, simply mail your check to our office at 1900 SE
Milport Rd, Suite B, Milwaukie, OR 97222. If you prefer to donate by
credit card, simply call our office at (503) 652-7477.
In the coming months, we have the chance to complete not one, but two
innovative projects to benefit Johnson Creek and the wildlife, fish, and
people that call it home. With your help, we will do it.
Sincerely,
Matt Clark
