Well, hi, just your mostly-weekly update from DAFT here.

We are having a meeting tomorrow at 6:30 in Student Center 325, where Sarah is going to be leading a discussion on religion in the Middle East, based on her own experiences growing up there. This is a really unique opportunity, so don't miss out!

Then, this Saturday, I am hosting Secular Social! It's a really fun time to come out and meet other secular students from across Chicago. It starts at 9, at the one and only Radsville, at Irving and Paulina, just off the Irving Park Brown Line. Dressing up is not required, but highly encouraged. (What dressing up means is up to you, as long as it makes you feel fabulous.)

Also, we are still raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! We are $145 away from raising $1000 for the Light the Night Walk on October 20th, so if you can, or know someone who can, please donate to our campaign! We will be asking for a non-mandatory $5 donation at Secular Social, with the incentive that we will love you forever if you do, and also you're helping to cure cancer. Our fundraising page is here: http://pages.lightthenight.org/il/ChicagoL12/ChicagoAreaSecularStudentAllianceFBB

Finally, on October 16th, Hemant Mehta of The Friendly Atheist blog is coming to speak to us! He's going to talk about improving public school education in room 325 of the Student Center, starting at 7 PM. He's a really cool person, so make sure to come out!

That's it for this week. Don't forget that Carl Sagan Day is fast approaching. Plan to skip your classes and familial obligations that night, people. You don't want to miss this juggernaut of secular awesome.

Slainte,

Andrew
