All right, all of you, I know I'm usually fairly excitable about what DAFT is doing any particular week. However, this week, I am actually squeeing and flailing everywhere over this Thursday. Because, without question, this is the biggest and most exciting event that DAFT has ever been involved in so far in its history. We are being cosponsored in this by the Adler Planetarium, for which we will be raffling off free tickets to, Chicago Skeptics, and College of Curiosity! For the main event, we have three incredible speakers:
"Carl Sagan's Life and Legacy"
Dr. Peter Vandervoort, Professor Emeritus, Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, and a former colleague of Carl Sagan
"Cosmic Mysteries: the Dark Universe and the Most Energetic Particles"
Dr. Angela Olinto, Chair of the Astronomy and Astrophysics Department at the University of Chicago
"Citizen Science"
Dr. Bernhard Beck-Winchantz, Associate Professor of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Studies Department at DePaul University
And finally, our emcee for the evening is Matt Lowry, a high school physics teacher and writer at The Skeptical Teacher.
Added to that, we will have free apple pie, which we invented the universe in order to bake from scratch. Not really, but it will be sinfully delicious.
THIS IS A HUGE DEAL! Can't wait to see all of you!
