Many powerful reasons may provoke someone to replace meat and dairy products with plant-based food. For my family, the reason we shifted to eating vegan stemmed from a series of health scares my husband experienced which alerted us to the unhealthy cholesterol levels in his arteries. Switching to a vegan diet transformed his physical health and body composition in just a couple of months. He lost 30 pounds and his total cholesterol levels went from 199 to 111. We happily stick with the vegan food plan finding it easy to prepare, inexpensive, and delicious. I have been cooking vegan dinners for my family for the past year and am excited to share the strategies that have helped us enjoy a plant based diet.
We subscribe to a vegan meal planner called Forks Over Knives. Using this smart phone application takes the work out of deciding what to eat. A meal plan is sent to our smart phone each week, plus a dynamic grocery list. My husband, 11 year old daughter, and I customize the weekly plan together, talking about which meals sound delicious, are quick to make, and rated highly by others. It is an exciting family conversation we have regularly. Involving the household makes everyone a vegan stakeholder looking forward to the meals ahead.
Once we agree on our upcoming week of meals, we edit the grocery list based on what we need to buy. Then we hire Amazon Fresh to deliver the groceries right to our front door. We have found this delivery service easy, powerfully time and cost saving, and the produce is of high quality.
The fun and ease continue as I cook the meals while the recipes display on my smart phone. We enjoy a grand variety of pastas, burritos, salads, soups, stews, chilis, pizzas, sandwiches, casseroles, grain bowls, stir fries, and the list goes on and on. I have learned to make plant based sauces which replace the cheese, mayo, or dressings that usually come from animal products. Leftovers make for instant lunches, and by the end of the week we have enjoyed everything we bought. My family members are healthier humans, proud of the sustainable impact we make on the planet as we help the earth one bite at a time.
I have some DE at home. I was using it for my dogs, to dust them and prevent fleas. Geez, I had no idea it might help with my Psoriasis! And I have ACV of course, in my kitchen cabinet. How much of each do you use every day?
I had used it with horses to rid them of parasites or worms. ACV does the same thing. Yes its also good for Candida. So did some more research and found links to both being used for psoriasis. Plus there is a lot of talk about internal parasites being linked to psoriasis. So far the diatomaceus earth is showing promise.
My psoriasis was already greatly reduced and slowly getting better just with diet. The diatomaceus earth has had an immediate impact on my worst spot. Fingers crossed it finally goes away completely now.

For current and admitted students: this major is unrestricted which means any student can declare the major. Unrestricted majors may still have an entry process such as meeting with an advisor or attending an informational meeting.
Students should speak with a Geology advisor (Professor Petsch, or Professor Clement for CHC students). The earlier students declare the major, the greater the flexibility in course selection as juniors and seniors.

1.4 DSCOVR, Earth Sciences from a New PerspectiveFrancisco P.J. Valero, SIO/Univ. of California, La Jolla, CA; and J. Herman and P. MinnisThe L-1 and L-2 Earth-Sun Lagrange points mark positions where the gravitational pull of the Earth and Sun precisely equals the centripetal force required to rotate with the Earth about the Sun with the same orbital period as the Earth. Therefore, a satellite maintained at or near one of these Lagrange points would keep the same relative position to the Sun and the Earth and be able to observe most points on the planet as the Earth rotates during the day. L-1 and L-2 are of particular interest because a satellite at either location can easily be maintained near the Sun-Earth line and views, respectively, the entire daytime hemisphere or the entire nighttime hemisphere. Synoptic, high temporal-resolution observations would be obtained as every point on the planet transits from sunrise to sunset (L-1) or from sunset to sunrise (L-2). A pair of deep-space observatories, one at L-1 and one at L-2, could simultaneously observe almost the entire Earth's surface and atmosphere. Such unique attributes are incorporated in the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) that will systematically observe climate drivers (radiation, aerosols, ozone, clouds, water vapor) from L-1 in a way not possible with other satellites. The combination of Solar Lagrange Points (SLPs), LEO, and GEO satellites would certainly provide a powerful observational tool as well as enriched data sets for Earth sciences. Such synergism is greatly enhanced when one considers the potential of utilizing LEO, GEO, and SLPs satellites as an integrated observational system. For example, a satellite at L-1 will view the Earth plus the Moon while simultaneously having in its field of view (at one time or another) all Earth-orbiting satellites. This view offers the opportunity to use the Moon as a calibration reference that can in turn be shared with all other Earth observation satellites. In other words, the deep-space observatory can become an important link between LEO and GEO satellites while at the same time providing the data necessary to build an integrated Earth observational system. Such synergism would certainly help advance Earth sciences and greatly enhance the return for the nation's investment in space. A synergistic, integrated system composed of LEO, GEO, and SLPs platforms is likely the way of the future.
