With Windows 10 installed, my CPU load is 100%, the gameplay is sluggish and suffers from input lag. But if I play on Windows 8.1, I lose input delay and in general the game becomes much more stable, only reaching 100% CPU utilization occasionally.

does fortnite run better on windows 10 or 11

I noticed that Windows 8.1 displays 4.36 GHz in the task manager instead of 4.4 GHz, and Windows 10 displays 4.39 GHz. I believe that Windows 8.1 reserved a part of the frequency, and because of this, the processor does not overload and I can get better responsiveness.

How can I repeat the same thing in Windows 10? I tried the instructions on the following site: How to Change Maximum Processor Frequency in Windows 10, but it only allows regulation below 3.3 GHz, and also if I set the max processor state to 99%, it resets frequencies to 3.3 GHz.

I think that you get better usage in Windows 8.1 just becouse it uses your cpu less for background-operation, but maybe its because you had some software installed in Windows 10 that was sucking some usage. I suggest you to try a fresh W10 install. Anyway, Windows can reserve part of the usage, but not part of the frequency. The frequency difference you had notice is not relevant, it is very low, and most of the times higher frequency means higher operations per sec, so in theory that 4.39 you are getting in W10 should be better. For that reason I stick with my background utilization usage theory. One thing you can try if you have multiple monitors, is to detach them when you are gaming, it will improve cpu usage. You can also try to overclock, but I don't know your hardware configuration and your cooler, so I cannot say anything more about that.

so I have tried the hardware accelerated GPU scheduling method and it does not work i have also uninstalled my graphics card drivers and reinstalled them, it every game I play it use all my CPU and it annoying my GPU be on like 7 all day long it does it for apex, fortnite, call of duty, adobe apps, discord even when I have the hardware acceleration turned it still does not use my GPU on discord it does it for most of everything my pc spec are not that great but still I know it works bc it have before can someone plz help me I don't know what to do like is their something I have to do in my bios or sum else because I am so confused

According to this Bottleneck Calculator your CPU is too slow for your GPU. In my understanding this basically means that while the CPU is working at its limits, the GPU has to wait for the data computed in the CPU. There are two ways to fix this.

Besides the hardware acceleration scheduling, you can specify the GPU for running the applications. If this doesn't work, it may seem that other software is interfering (some Control Panel or management tools for the GPU could be overriding) and I would recommend to post a question on the forums for your GPU manufacturer, where the community would have a specific expertise in that matters.

Please do not use Windows to try and update your graphics drivers as its very common for Microsoft to have out of date drivers. Please get current drivers from either geforce experience, you dont have to install if its not already running, or the Nvidia website.

You are going to need to upgrade your CPU, motherboard and RAM. I would also suggest at least a 3xxx series AMD CPU, not APU, though a 2xxx would be a huge upgrade in your case. AMD has decent cheap AM4 motherboards though you are probably going to have to get used parts for the CPU and motherboard. AM4 uses DDR4 so you can get that either new or used.

Fortnite needs no introduction. Whatever you personally think of it, its success is undeniable as is its influence on free-to-play games in general. It's fair to call it a skin shop with a game attached. But you can't argue with success.

Fortnite's battle royale mode has gone through a lot of changes since the early days. My first experience was somewhat enjoyable, back when the battle royale required the purchase of the full game to unlock before the free-to-play skinapalooza ever came along.

But one thing I never liked, that I could never ever get along with, was the building. It differentiated Fortnite from the crowd, but it also became more important to be good at building than be good at a shooter. But this week, Epic Games turned off the building, and what do you know, Fortnite is fun as hell to play.

It's part of the latest seasonal update, but yes, all building has been completely disabled in Fortnite. Alas, it's only for a limited time, and as things stand it'll be back next week, but the impact its removal on the game has had is astonishing.

No longer can the more competent builders spam build a 12-story skyscraper every time someone shoots at them. The playing field has been completely leveled, so those of us who are OK at shooters but terrible at building a luxury mansion with a swimming pool have more of a chance. And are having more fun.

Even the fact there are tanks roaming around doesn't really ruin things. Sure, Fortnite may have been built on the core concept of its building mechanics, but the fact that it is, right now, just a regular shooter with a fun map, some interesting quests, bounties, it's just fun. Not being trapped in a wooden cage and hit with a pump shotgun every single game is refreshing.

Alas, the jubilation is short-lived because the lack of building is part of the storyline attached to the latest season. It will soon be turned back on, and Fortnite will return to its old ways and I, and a lot of others no doubt, will walk away again.

In my circle of friends, there are plenty who have specifically played Fortnite this week because there's no building involved. Some haven't played the game since the very early days, some have never played. It's a big deal. And in the bigger picture, it seems to have generated some buzz as well. Some huge names, such as Tfue, have also come out and said that this is just better. And he's a pretty handy Fortnite player:

Looking at TwitchTracker, there's a very obvious bump in not only those streaming Fortnite but the viewers watching those streams. Obviously, Fortnite is still one of the most popular games on the planet, but it's no longer the darling of Twitch. Nevertheless, there's a clear increase in popularity tying in with the launch of the new season, but also the fact there's currently no building. It doesn't take long to browse the listings and find a stream where someone is returning after a hiatus and having an absolute blast.

Obviously, the main game mode will see it return very soon, and it'll be interesting to see whether the buzz dies off when it does. But there's no reason the current state of play couldn't remain as an alternate game mode, surely? Very clearly there's a case for it to exist.

Those of us who find the game fun but the building aspects loathsome are clearly more prominent than many diehard players would like to admit. Keeping a building-free mode that mirrors the current week's play would probably keep me playing, and I'm sure the same applies to many others.

I primarily play Fortnite Battle Royale and I've had issues with performance and getting the game to run stable on the rendering mode "Lower Graphical Fidelity". It is meant to lighten the load on my system and provide lower input delay and better fps however quite the opposite happens. Whether I am playing a creative map or the Battle Royale gamemode, I have frequent FPS drops when I glide into the map or look at something far away. I have higher peak fps on Performance Rendering mode compared to DX12 but it is not as stable. I commonly have 144 FPS and sudden drops down to 60 and sometimes even 40 FPS. The main issue with this is how much it happens and how sudden the drops are. My 1% lows are terrible, the game feels alright when I'm in a closed area but when the map opens up and I have lots of things in view my FPS drops.

System Specs:

In theory everything should be fine to run a mode which gives me better performance but my system performs better on DX12. People have told me to just stick on DX12 but there should be no reason Performance Mode doesn't work as it clearly feels better and has lower input delay.

I hope I've provided enough info, if not, please reply and try to help and ask me any further questions.
-I use the most recent AMD drivers through Adrenalin but this has been an ongoing issue for me since I built my computer almost 3 years ago.

IF you are running any AV other than the free built in Windows Defender .. uninstall it and see if system performs better (Free Windows Defender + Free OpenDNS account using their DNS servers + Free Ublock Origin in your browser(s) = Great protection and uses low system resources for FREE)

I have an Inland Premium NVME SSD from MicroCenter. Its a 512 GB drive and i have a 2TB HDD 7200 RPm for all my other things. Fortnite and my main system os and a few other important games or programs are on the SSD. I have 153 GB remaining on the SSD. I really think this is an optimization issue from AMD and Epics side and if they could acknowledge it and provide some info it would be great. I cant comprehend why my system for 3 years, which when i built it was a higher end mid range machine cant run a game on a lower graphical mode. I have invested time into using tweaks and optimizing my os and the game yet it still will not work. If you have any other ideas please let me know @petosiris
