Using a streamlined prototype approach, an emphasis on nursing care, plus a wealth of other trademark features, Pharmacology: A Patient-Centered Nursing Process Approach, 10th Edition makes it easy for you to really understand pharmacology. Prototype drug charts summarize the need-to-know information about key drugs, including dosage, side effects, interactions, and more. Images of current drug package labels reinforce your understanding of text content using relevant, true-to-life learning. Bulleted nursing process summaries relate nursing care to drug therapy in addition to highlighting patient teaching, patient safety, and relevant cultural content. Finally, the unique and thorough drug calculations section features math review as well as step-by-step instructions for drug calculations using the four general methods of dosage calculation. All in all this text has all the tools you need to better understand the complicated subject of pharmacology.
Now in its tenth edition, it has been updated to include important new drugs such as gene therapies, personalised medicines and the new wave of RNA drugs. However it has not lost any of the elements that have contributed to its popularity, such as color coding and illustrations, making it reader-friendly while comprehensively covering the depth of detail required.
This essential book is recommended as the first-choice undergraduate text for science and medical students and junior doctors and will also be useful for students in other professional disciplines such as pharmacy, veterinary medicine and nursing.

This is the second edition of the Open RN Nursing Pharmacology OER textbook. This free online textbook is an open educational resource with CC-BY 4.0 licensing that has been developed for prelicensure nursing students.
This edition has been updated according to the 2023 NCLEX-PN and NCLEX-RN Test Plans, and additional NCLEX Next Generation-style learning activities have been added to each chapter. It is aligned with the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) statewide nursing curriculum for the Nursing Pharmacology course (543-103). View a list of updates in the second edition here.
This book introduces the principles of pharmacology and discusses classes of medications and their effects on the body. Emphasis is on the use of the nursing process to safely administer medications. This book is not intended to be used as a drug reference book. However, links are provided for prototype medications for each medication class to DailyMed, a trustworthy U.S. National Library of Medicine website, that contains detailed information about drugs marketed in the United States.

5 Star Doody's Review!
"This is the most widely used textbook for teaching pharmacology to health professionals. This 11th edition is far superior to any previous editions....The authors' goals are to provide a complete, authoritative, current, and readable textbook of pharmacology for students in health sciences. Testimony to their success is the widespread use of this work as required textbook for pharmacology courses around the world. This book is used extensively by thousands of medical, pharmacy, podiatry, nursing, and other health professions students to study pharmacology. Likewise, it remains a valuable resource for residents and practicing physicians....I continue to use this book as a required resource for all courses that I teach to medical, nursing, and allied health students. It is authoritative, readable, and supported by numerous learning tools."--Doody's Review Service
The second edition of Neuroimmune Pharmacology bridges the disciplines of neuroscience, immunology and pharmacology from the molecular to clinical levels with particular thought made to engage new research directives and clinical modalities.
Bringing together the foremost field authorities from around the world, Neuroimmune Pharmacology will serve as an invaluable resource for the basic and applied scientists of the current decade and beyond.
In this fourth edition of Pharmacology & Physiology in Anesthetic Practice , Simon Hillier, M.B., Ch.B. (Associate Professor, Department of Anesthesia, Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Indiana), joins Robert Stoelting, M.D. (retired Chair, Department of Anesthesia, Indiana University School of Medicine), as a coauthor. His contributions include new chapters in the physiology section on thermoregulation and physiology of the newborn and elderly. The textbook is divided into two sections, the first of which is dedicated to pharmacology and the second to physiology. The Handbook of Pharmacology & Physiology in Anesthetic Practice is in its second edition and parallels the textbook. Drs. Stoelting and Hillier manage to explain sometimes daunting material, such as the chapter on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, in a clear, concise, and easy-to-understand manner that engages the reader. What was pleasantly surprising was that they managed to explore the subject matter in some depth while keeping the text concise and easy to read. This makes it an invaluable tool to residents who often complain that at the end of a long day, they need to have something that reads well to stay focused.
The text and handbook include information on recent topics, including carbon monoxide production and the risk of fire with exposure of inhalation agents to desiccated carbon dioxide absorbents, bupivacaine biodegradable microcapsules, and the use of nitric oxide for pulmonary hypertension. In addition, a chapter on blood components, substitutes, and hemostatic drugs is included in the pharmacology section, as is a chapter on nutrition.
The physiology section begins with an excellent basic review of cell structure and function. The chapter on the central nervous system addresses the issue of intraoperative awareness. The chapter on the microcirculation and lymphatics is one that is often overlooked, but Drs. Stoelting and Hillier remind us that the circulation exists to supply the tissues with oxygen and nutrients vital for function.
Written in clear language and specifically for the nursing context, the new edition of this bestselling book is your ultimate guide to pathophysiology and pharmacology. Through a uniquely integrated approach, the book develops your knowledge of both the pathology of common conditions and their pharmacological treatment. This holistic approach builds your knowledge of the key concepts and processes, with real world examples illustrating their application to nursing practice.
Building on the strengths of previous editions, the Sixth Edition of Modern Pharmacology with Clinical Applications continues to provide an up-to-date and comprehensive textbook for students of pharmacology. Focusing on the clinical application of drugs within a context of the major principles of pharmacology, this text supplies both students and faculty with an introduction to modern pharmacotherapeutics.
"Pharmacology for Nurses: A Pathophysiologic Approach simplifies pharmacology by linking it tightly to therapeutic goals. Instead of learning about drugs in isolation, students approach them by body systems and diseases in order to draw connections between A&P, diseases, and drug interventions. Engaging features and exercises relate pharmacology to nursing care, while discussion of alternative therapies and cultural and lifespan considerations give further context for clinical decisions. The 6th edition adds the most current pharmacotherapeutics and advances in pathophysiology." -- Provided by publisher.
If you are worried that studying pharmacology will be difficult to apply to clinical practice, Pharmacology for Health Professionals is the book for you. Written by experienced health professional educators, this textbook brings the study of drugs and medicines to life.
This title is considered the most authoritative text in Australia and New Zealand for nursing and allied health students, but it is also highly accessible. The use of easily flowing material, integration with physiology and pathophysiology, and focus on clinically relevant information clearly show how pharmacology concepts can be applied in practice.
Fully updated in its sixth edition, the book will help students master this complex and constantly changing area of their studies and is suitable for use in many undergraduate health professional courses including nursing, paramedicine, pharmacy, podiatry, optometry, midwifery, speech pathology and general biomedical/health science programs.
