The Indian Muslims account for almost a fifth of the total Indian population yet are among the poorest segment. As per the available Government reports there are 32 million Muslims or more than 1/3rd Muslims are dwelling below poverty line.
The most vulnerable members of our community
struggle every day. Only if we strengthen the most vulnerable Muslims in our
country can we succeed as one Ummah.
Nu’man bin Bashir (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever.” [Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]
There has been utter failure in realizing the true potential of Zakat with respect to the Muslim Community in India. The fundamental problem is the way the Zakat is collected and spent without any collective strategies. The system is used in an ineffective way at a personal level where the needs of whole community is not kept in mind and the spirit of system of Zakat vanishes due to which there is no result on the ground.
Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) is an Organisation, which has streamlined the process of Zakat Collection and Disbursements, so the maximum underprivileged people can be benefitted. AMP believes that through proper utilization of Zakat, the beneficiaries of Zakat today, can become Zakat givers of tomorrow.
Alhamdulillah, we have 4 specific campaigns under AMP Zakat Fund to remove the Community from Poverty namely;
1. Support Higher Education – Empower Lives.
AMP has supported 372 financially needy and deserving students mostly pursuing professional courses.
2. Support A Small Business – Make A Happy Family.
AMP has helped 186 young talented but unemployed youth within the community to start a small business with the objective of promoting Self-Employment across India, mainly focusing on rural areas.
3. Shape A Life – Support an Orphan.
AMP provided financial support for the educational expenses of 294 needy orphan children so that they are not deprived of basic education for want of a guardian.
4. Support IIT/Civil Services.
AMP provided monetary support to 12 bright needy Muslim students who have secured admission in the prestigious IIT institutes and those who want to appear for Civil Services exams like UPSC etc.
