New Community Gardens in 2018
Did you know that DUG grows our network of community gardens by eight to twelve new gardens every year? We are thrilled to share the newest members of the DUG network:
Asian Pacific Development Center Community Garden: Built in partnership with the Asian Pacific Development Center, this garden serves the low-income and refugee communities in the East Colfax neighborhood.
Sabin School Community Garden: This garden is a part of activating the school's new STEM lab, creating a holistic connection between the garden and the classroom.
Stevens School and Community Garden: DUG's first school-based community garden in Wheat Ridge, this garden also held our inaugural work day with the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation.
Children's Hospital at Anschutz Community Garden: This garden was created to provide a green respite for hospital staff and patients, as well as provide a model for healthy eating.
Nome Park Community Garden: Part of the Nome Park renovation, this garden is the result of a wonderful collaboration between DUG, the City of Aurora and the adjacent neighborhood.
Sunshine Community Garden: This pilot garden, with over a dozen raised beds, is a result of the partnership with Jeffco Head Start, WIC and GoFarm.
Cathedral Learning Garden: Focused on education and hunger relief, this garden was created in partnership with Metro Caring and St. John's Cathedral.
St. Anthony's North Community Garden: Created in partnership with Westminster Parks and Recreation, this garden serves the innovative St. Anthony's North campus.
Rose Stein Community Garden: This school-based community garden is the focal point of the reopened school in urban Lakewood.
North Arvada Middle School Community Garden: This garden transformed a gravel playfield into a growing oasis for middle schoolers and their families.
Foothills Community Garden: This terraced garden at the foot of Green Mountain serves a vibrant elementary school community.
