Good Morning Denver SQL USER GROUP.

My name is Jared Keyworth with ISYS Technologies based out of
Littleton, CO. I have a Client in the Boulder area that is looking
for a SQL Server 2008 DBA to assist in training their current DBA on
SQL Server 2008 and how it interfaces with MOSS 2007. Our client is
flexible on the amount of hours worked per week as long as the
potential candidate can work on site. I am attaching the Job
Description so that you will have a better understanding of the
position. This project is scheduled for 1 month with the possibility
of extension.

Subcontractor shall provide a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)
for our Client's Enterprise Solutions team to support in the
installation of configuration of SQL 2008 database servers and
clusters using best practices for security and performance while also
training an existing DBA on the intricacies of SQL 2008. Worker is to
be an expert in SQL Server 2008, specifically with installation,
configuration, and maintenance of production systems that will have
tight security and will demand exemplary performance. Use of SQL 2008
will primarily be for, but not limited to, Microsoft Office SharePoint
Server (MOSS) 2007.


Milestones:

Create two SQL 2008 clusters in preparation for large, enterprise-wide
MOSS implementation. Use best practices for creating the cluster
specifically for MOSS use and for top performance. Incorporate
Transparent Data Encryption and establish encrypted communications to
the MOSS web and application servers. Technical documentation of
installation and configuration. Train existing DBA on all of the
above for the purposes of that DBA taking over the ongoing maintenance
of the system as well as to prepare that DBA for any future
installations.

The position will involve rapid movement to first get the SQL clusters
built and ready for production use by the impending MOSS
implementation as well as training existing DBA.

Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or
related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Five years of
relevant experience as a SQL DBA, including specific experience with
SQL 2008 in a production system. Experience with creating,
configuring, and maintaining SQL clusters (2005 or 2008). Working
knowledge and experience using:

SQL 2005/2008
SSAS and SSRS
Training or Mentoring experience
Documentation

Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and client service skills.

Preferred: Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or
related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Experience
working in technical R&D environment. Knowledge of alternative energy
technologies, industries, and issues, and ability to maintain
knowledge as technology changes. Strong initiative and ability to
research, learn, and apply new Internet tools and practices. Previous
experience as a SQL DBA responsible for SQL servers within a MOSS
environment:

MOSS 2007
Create two SQL 2008 clusters for large MOSS 2007 implementation

Documentation identifying what was built, details on how it was built
and configured, and justification for why it was built in that manner

Complete knowledge transfer to existing DBA


The Candidate will work primarily at the Client location and possibly
remotely. The Candidate must sign the Client's Personnel
Registration Form prior to reporting to the Client site. The Period of
Performance may be extended.
