New to CO... is this the group for me?

Hi all,

Prior to COVID, I lived in PA and had a great little (4-6p) gaming group of friends.

But I just moved to Colorado...

Before showing up to a big gaming group, I figured I should first ask if my gaming tastes are in alignment.  If they're not, perhaps you can help me find a few people near me who share my goals.

My wife and I play Gloomhaven.  If we add the kids (10, 7), we play Clank!, Stuffed Fables, Sub Terra, Seasons, and Galaxy Trucker.

What I'm looking for in a group is to play mostly heavier games like:

 - Combat (Twilight Imperium 4, Root, Inis, Blood Rage, Rising Sun, Heroes of LAS, Dominant Species)

 - Coop (Spirit Island, Nemesis, Too Many Bones)

 - VP/Euro (A Feast for Odin, Great Western Trail, Viticulture, Dungeon Lords, Glen More II)

Is this the group for me?  That's okay if it's not, but then are there any recommendations for other groups or individuals I should connect with?

I'm happy to meet up with a larger group if we actually play these kinds of games.

I'm happy to host/join a smaller group if there's a select few of you who also like these games.

I'm happy to conform to whatever COVID restrictions the rest of the group agrees to (such as masks).

I can only speak for me, but I think this group would fit.  I am more a "lurker" than active participant, mostly due to lack of time, but I like being part of this group to see the events that do come up (that I longingly look at wanting to go to... someday!!)  But I also think it can be a good group for the kinds of games to set up "smaller" events with :D

Out of curiosity, what part of town do you live in?  I live up in Thornton myself, though I think the majority(?) live in the southern part of town.

Hello Ian,

I think this group is a good fit for you. Gloomhaven, Spirit Island,
Great Western Trail, and Viticulture are some of my favorite games.

I regularly host games, but I usually just plan them through text and
have smaller groups. We are playing Scythe this Sunday the 4th at 5pm
and I can fit one more player if you are interested. I live near I25
and Yale Ave, southern Denver.

First welcome to the group.  All gamers are welcome

If I had to pin the group I would call us a cult of the new euro game group.  You are more likely to find a game of Great western trail being played than Dominant Species.  ( Although in 2019 I believe I was part of two Dominant Species games )

There is a small group that probably wished we play more combat games.  I know several people have worked through gloomhaven.

We still don't meet at the Park Meadows mall.  Lack of tables, shorter hours, and COVID concerns have stopped that.  I still do host the 3rd saturday of the month.  Although I to meter the number of people.

As mentioned earlier we are in the south of denver ( generally speaking 15 minutes or shorter from Park Meadows mall )

I really appreciate all the responses so far - thanks everyone!  If nothing else, it's nice to see an "active" group!
