Teradata DBA

Location: Orlando, FL
Job Type:  Contract
Length:  6 Months,
Rate: $ 90- $95 /hr.

Skills;

Teradata:  5 years

SQL  5 years

Python: 0 to 2 years

Scripting: 0 to 2 years

Unix: 2 to 3 years

Windows: 2 to 3 years

DB2:  0 to 2 years

Oracle: 0 to 2 years

 

 

Description of Contractor Duties:  

 

Teradata DBA and Performance Tuning:

 

Skills:

DBA experience on V2R6 and 12, Strong Teradata SQL, Strong Teradata Concepts & Architecture, Strong Teradata Query Optimization Experience

 

The contractor will assist with the following:

        Management/Setup of Teradata development/production systems

-         Database management (create users/roles, databases, etc.)

-         Implement/conduct database load/performance monitoring

-         Recommend use of statistics, indexes, partitioning, temp tables, other techniques to reduce or redistribute database load

 

        Performance analysis and tuning.

-         Analyze existing Business Object (BO) queries and ETL code using EXPLAIN, query log, timings, CPU utilization to identify system choke points.

-         Work with developers to suggest and modify existing queries and database objects (indexes, partitions, etc.) to maximize performance across suite of BO reports and ETL.

-         Analyze existing data storage patterns and suggest alternatives to improve space and performance utilization.

-         Analyze existing data access patterns and suggest alternatives to improve system utilization.

 

Required skills:

1.      Proven Teradata DBA experience.

2.      Teradata concepts and architecture.

3.      Data warehouse concepts and techniques.

4.      Proven Experience Implementing and Tuning large enterprise Teradata Data Warehouses.

5.      Teradata ELT.

6.      Complex SQL queries.

7.      Teradata load utilities: BTQ, Multiload, Fastload, BTEQ, TPump.

 

 

Desired skills:

1.      Teradata certification.

2.      Strong Data Analysis capability/experience. Experience with data mining concepts a plus.

3.      Understanding of source code control concepts.

4.      Advanced Math.

5.      Ability to understand complex business data integration.

6.      Reporting: BI concepts, Business Objects.

 

Required degree: Computer Science or Engineering degree.
