Cable Companies Want Government to Help Them Increase Your Bill & Limit
Competition

Amidst flat and declining cable TV subscription numbers, Cable companies
are lobbying the FCC to force every cable subscriber to rent cable boxes or
cable cards even if they don't want or need them now.

Currently cable companies must deliver broadcast channels in a way that
enables tuners like Boxee Live TV (and the ones in your TV) to display
those channels without any extra hardware.

Now the cable companies are asking the FCC to change the rules and turn
access off. Their main excuse being that it will reduce the need for the
cable guy to drive to your house to disconnect your cable and thus be
better for the environment. Considering this ruling would also mean
millions more set top boxes and cable cards are manufactured, distributed,
and attached to electric outlets (see below for consumption), their
argument doesn't hold water. It's akin to a cable executive taking a
private jet to an FCC meeting, but insisting on having recycled toilet
paper on-board to help save the environment.

Cable. These are the same mother fuckers who play games with
broadcast TV on cable, holding you hostage to paying more or getting
less.

Meanwhile, the USA is ranked below some African nations in the
bandwidth & speed of our Internet for Mom and Pop. Incredible. It's
why our bridges and roads are falling apart. All the money went up to
the top 0.1% and out across the sea to China and Arabia. These cheap
ass Cable Companies are like every other American company.

take take take, gimmee gimmee gimmee

They preach how great FREE ENTERPRISE without government interference
and How COMPETITION is the invisible hand of GOD, uh, while they have
a monopoly.

They then get busy and sat on their fat monopolized greedy asses and
let their infrastructure ROT until competition comes along and
millions flock to satellite.

Well, suddenly that Invisible Hand of God smacks them and they run to
their High Priests in Government to make it rain with out tax money
and distract the gods with burnt offerings of our taxes.

Yep, talking out of both sides of their piehole, they decide that
competition that is AGAINST their interests is BAD and go running to
big Mama Government to bail their rich CEOs out so they don't lose
those hundreds of millions in lucrative stock options values.

Why, all Capitalism suddenly isn't created Equal, some NEED that
Guv'ment help -=just for lil old me=- just this one time until next
time. Once propped up by your and my taxes, it's all rugged
independence and self-determination and pulling ones self up by one's
bootstraps again.

Capitalism is the biggest con-game after Communism and Religion.

Whoever has the power, creates the TRUTH for the masses to swallow.

My suggestion: Let the Guv'ment create a national wireless content and
Internet system modeled after the old FCC radio and TV model. Cut the
balls off cable.

Capitalism run by greedy idiots is as dead as Communism run by greedy
dictators.

Time for We The People to do a little rotation...hehehe.

You're confusing the private & public sectors.

So, this is an angry missive against capitalism and the market, not about
your cable bill.

Seventy percent of the budget goes to the gimme crowd, those freaks
occupying public space on the public dole.

Would 100% be enough? How about 150% of everyone else's money?

We've spent 1.6 billion dollars on cell phones for the poor, because, as
we know, land lines don't work any more.

These scores of children begging in the street in America, they apparently
all have government-supplied unlimited texting.

Competition actually works, so does the market, better than.. well
whatever alternative you have.

For instance, my cell coverage is better than ever, my cable is better
than ever.

That took billions of capital investment.

Actually, more neighborhoods are wired for fiber optic than ever before,
signals are more reliable, etc.

Not for satellite though, on account of clouds.

Have you ever actually looked at the US budget?
