Methods and Ethics: Monitoring and Evaluation

The next event of the South Asian Bioethics Community titled, "Methods and Ethics: Monitoring and Evaluation" will serve as a capacity-building exercise for scholars and academics interested in learning more about monitoring and evaluation within public health interventions. The objectives of the symposium are as follows: 

1. To describe the methods involved in monitoring and evaluation in public health
2. To distinguish between monitoring and evaluation, and public health research
3. To describe the ethical issues involved in monitoring and evaluation in public health

Speakers' Bio

Vijay Goprichandran is a medical doctor with an MD in Community Medicine and a PhD in Public Health. He works as an Assistant Professor of Community Medicine at the ESIC Medical College and Hospital, Chennai, India. He is also a Working Editor of the Indian Journal of Medical Ethics. His research interests include the ethics and professionalism of healthcare providers and trust in the doctor-patient relationships. 

Sudharshini Subramaniam is a medical doctor with MD in Community Medicine and works as a faculty in Madras Medical College, Chennai, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical and paramedical students. Her area of interest includes health systems research using an equity lens. 

Rajeswaran Thiagesan is a Physiotherapist with a Master's in Public Health. He is pursuing his PhD (part-time) at The Gandhigram Rural Institute. He works as a Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation Lead in an NGO called REACH for Tuberculosis care and control. His area of interest includes health equity, disability, and tuberculosis.
