Hi, just starting to use DendroPy. Is it possible to retrieve the character and state labels once DendroPy has loaded a NEXUS file? For example:

CHARSTATELABELS
1 'head shape' /  round square, 2 'eye color' /  blue brown ;

I'm not seeing any of this info attached as labels to cell values, so I'm guessing it's not read.

Thank you,
Jim

Jim,

I don't think so. I think the character matrix has a list of character
types which tracks information regarding each column (state symbol set
etc.). This includes a label, but the present version does not parse
the label from NEXUS files. So the infrastructure is present, but the
functionality as such is not yet implemented.

Okay, thanks!
