Hey guys,

I've been out of it for the last two days (didn't eat or sleep enough
and it caught up with me.)

Thanks again for being willing to help me out with trying out the
Dendrite Network.

I've been trying to think of way to, uh, reward you guys and also
motivate you to spread the word about the DN.

The thing is, the DN is supposed to be a platform for spreading
/other/ ideas, not a thing in it's own right. So it's kind of weird
asking friends of mine to just go tell other folks about it.

On the other hand, without a large enough initial group of interested
participants there's little chance it will ever "ignite" and serve its
purpose.

So, like I said, I've been trying to come up with an elegant, gracious
way to engage you guys (Stirling, Jake, Lane, Hoke, Jared, and Sarah,
you guys who've tried it) in letting other people know.

The two maybe-good ideas I've come up with so far are 1) make you some
origami (I make origami) or 2) make a Kiva loan on behalf of us and
the DN.

What do y'all think? Any ideas?

Ciao,
~Simon

that of an imprisoned sleeper, stirring clumsily and uneasily while
the prison that restrains and shelters him catches fire, not waking
but incorporating the crackling and warmth of the fire with ancient
and incongruous dreams, than like that of a man consciously awake to
danger and opportunity."  --H. P. Wells, "A Short History of the

Either would be great.  I forwarded the last e-mail we exchanged, the one where I got my Tag, to my friend Beth and told her to let me know if she has any questions and to please sign up.

Simon,

I am especially busy right now and have not had time to digest the site. Even once I can make time, I do not like to rush web projects because all of my friends are always joining online collaboration groups and another one is overload for us unless it is recommended with a lot of care. Almost all of the groups we join never reach critical mass for participants.

I would like to backburner my participation this for a couple of weeks then re-engage. I am in the middle of a new job and a move.

The idea is great but I need to check the platform and of course ideas and platforms are not the problem - always the problem is attracting the community.

Keep me in the loop.

Hey Lane, no worries, I really appreciate your participation and I
look forward to having your involvement in the future.

I want to be really careful to go slowly and let this grow organically
(if at all) so what you said about online collaboration groups
reaching critical mass really strikes home for me.

It's really a peculiar situation. I don't actually want to promote
the DN concept itself, except as a way to promote /other/ concepts and
efforts.

Take care of your job and move (kudos again!) and if and when you get
a chance jump back in. I'd also really like to talk with you about
the software help you've mentioned in the past, and on your blog.

Warm regards,
much love, ^_^
~Simon
