I've just started using vpn.ac but am finding huge speed fluctuations, night times seem okay but day times are quite slow. There status page seems misleading to me, I'm using au1A.vpn.ac which reports to have only 3.6MB/s (3%) bandwidth usage, but then at nights I can often get back to high 40Mb+.

My setup is using OpenVPN within an ASUS RT68U Router (US Version), with Merlin Firmware Version:384.8_2. Connected to an ASUS DSL-AC88U Modem via Ethernet. Am on Aussie Broadband 50/20 NBN FTTN, 1000 metres of dodgy copper to NBN node. I am located 1,300 km from Brisbane.

We do, however, keep some connection logs (to our VPN service) for security and support purposes. These are kept on a separate, encrypted server (located in an undisclosed location) and are automatically erased on a daily basis. We don't keep any logs on servers, not even common Linux daemon logs.

Correct, simply because legal proceedings take an enormous amount of time which could include months or even years to progress through, hence your identity during that period is extremely safe from other 'evil' Countries wanting legal access.

what the stats are saying is that the utilization of their 1000Mb links , or 1G links at that time of each 15 minute snapshot , so what the stats are saying is each server is being utilized by a certain amount like this au1.vpn.ac 15.3MB/s (15%) , so that server is now 15% utilized right now , also with the logs here is a QnA that i asked in a ticket and got replied too

As a long time user of VPN.AC (one of 4 VPN.AC services I have) I was surprised to recently encounter an issue whereby Stan is detecting the VPN and blocking access. I have opened a ticket with VPN.AC and hopefully this will be sorted soon. Access via Sydney or Melbourne VPN.AC servers no longer work for Stan (for me, anyway).

i use NF, CBS, HULU know not much help, working ok atm, via Sydney, had NF go down one night a while back ,emailed them and response the next said fixed and sure was , there service is great , OOPs spoke to soon yep NF just gorn

If you are just installing the software on the PC then you can just toggle it when you want it. Otherwise if you want to cover all device on your home network you would have to configure your router for it assuming it supports it.

We got vpnAC because it was more reliably faster than our existing NordVPN which wasn't too bad.
No problems at all with vpnAC speeds, and we stream live tv and movies from HK and China, pacific servers every night for ages.

If there is a slow down it will usually not be your VPN, but the traffic on the server you are visiting.
We found that speed can slow a bit at similar times each evening...when people in Asia getting home from work.

Seems so, except my OpenVPN Client in Merlin now runs at 50% of the previous speeds attained with the Melbourne server. The Linux desktop client runs 100% speed quite happily. Another mystery to resolve it seems.

Hi guys ,
Having an issue since the newest version of Firefox 71.0 with Secureproxy , brought it up with Vpnn.ac and they said..Yes it works, Hence the newest version of sec proxy 2.1.0 they brought out a week or two ago for this specific issue.
And of course once i started a clean firefox browser it did indeed work.
It seems that one of my damn addons is blocking sec proxy.
has anyone else had this issue with sec proxy and their addons and if so which one could u figure it was?
I run a lot of addons ..Below

I KNOW IT'S A LOT OF ADDONS
They all used too work in perfect harmony..not now but :(
Does anyone know a way to revert back to the older version of firefox before 71.0?
I dont want to have to reinstall firefox and loose all my settings in about:config also.
Thankyou

YES
fixed the sec proxy issues ,
for some reason when i was doing about:config in firefox a while back i changed some setting and i had been wondering why the browser was showing that i was in GMT time
At a guess i googled that.
Turned that off and now sec proxy works.
Was at my tether and was about too refresh firefox and start again, so glad i didnt have too :)
funny cause it had never caused an issue before

In the end it has always cleared up due to the updates changing settings which worked under the older system. Simply had to reinitiate the settings again, to maintain a reliable connection with VPN.ac.

I have just signed up for this VPN service and I am working my way through the instructions. It says to use a different DNS than the one provide by my ISP. Which DNS should I use? I have a Getflix subscription: can I use that service or should I use something like OpenDNS? I assume I can set this on a per device basis?

You can choose. I use 1.1.1.1 1.0.0.1 or you can use OpenDns. Choice is yours. There are others but these two are fine. I force the router to use my choice of DNS. Or just use windows. No problem using Aussie servers with the app or the secure proxy. I use NZ if using the secure proxy and Singapore with the program.

just a quick note in case you've missed it: the total limit for WireGuard devices has been increased to 6 (from 3).
Also (not officially announced yet), a new server in Sydney (supporting all VPN connection types) from a different hosting partner is being installed as we speak. Check locations list in the next days.

awesome , a move away from softlayer..i mean i have no qualms with softlayer but be interesting to see how other providers are..
guess its hard in australia for vpn servers as datas expensive and iirc its only 10TB on the softlayer each month..so 20TB on the two servers in sydney and 2 in melbourne

DO they just say this because most of the traffic is vpn traffic so its seen as fraudulent??
I think so.
If you plug in the IP numbers of other VPN providers, they all get scores over 70%.
I'm not seeing a third Sydney VPN Node on VPN.AC's web site.

I DL the conf files; chose vpnac-au3. The 'other two AU servers' when used and visiting whingepool a captcha would appear. No longer appears so I assume vpnac-au3 (also in the log) is what I am using.
I did have the list of the conf files when WG was implemented and that list has only two AU servers, new list has three AU servers.

as much as i love vpn.ac
Last year I mentioned that the TVNZ on demand stuff gives me an issue with geo block yet the live streams (TVNZ1 n what not) work fine.
Was hopin they would get a new nz ip or something , they left the ticket as open and working on it , 3 months later i followed up and they said , oh yeah we still working on that..nothing ever came of it so i just closed the ticket. its weird that the live streams work but on demand has a hissy! be great if they had a server for NZ in their server options and not just secproxy , but iirc its also expensive to have a nz server.

Actually, torrent won't work on any server. flap this is frustrating. I have set up utorrent and qbittorrent exactly how the faq says and its extremely rare that i can download a torrent, it nearly never connects to the trackers. I've tried both the canada and netherlands proxy.
I never has this issue on PIA.
Anyone have any tips on how you got torrent to connect to peers and download consistently?

last time i had a netflix acc i just used Sydney and it would hand me off too usa netflix due too their magical routing
they routed all us flix too the romania endpoint which then spread all over the servers ...last time i used it that is..happy for someone too retest this theiory; for me as i do not have netflix anymore

Their new app is slow to connect to servers plus it disconnects constantly. Wireguard works and is fast in windoze. The app is stable in Linux, however it is the older version and not the new version.

after much trial and error with many tickets later, ALL vpn.ac servers point to netflix Romania.
I found a few servers completely locked out netflix.com DNS resolves, specifically Los Angeles 7 and Sydney 2

Also been using vpn services for over a decade now and it's quite easy to set it up and have it working reliably. Trouble from others usually leads to those that don't have sufficient experience in setting up a vpn service, hence it's all the service's fault, for not allowing it to work.

does anyone have issues trying to connect to WG Sydney 3? (new server)
i have redownloaded the configs for mobile phone..it seemed too have stopped working on both WG windows and wireguard android!

also having a damn annoying issue with my new phone..i have battery optimizations off for vpn.ac app yet every 20 or so minutes my phone bings saying its lost connection and has too reconnect.
things i have done..Turned off all battery optimizations
made wifi unmetered connection
made vpn.ac app as always on

never had this issue on any other android as i run the radio all night while aslep and have woken to no sound and vpn reconnecting once i pick the phone up!
dont know about WG yet will try that tonight but..super frustrating issue with the app atm..(not sure if its the wifi goigng too sleep under battery optimizations) cannot find how too fix the wifi issue;
have googled so much cannot find a fix for this issue of vpn dropping out after phone screens blank after about 20 odd minutes on Android 9

thats how they do the double hop stuff with USA netflix ..IIRC..usa flix goes to romania then back to any server u are connected too
Also schools out and most people are at home so data usage will be pretty high..(many more on the flix)'or doing what ever else they interwebz :)
good luck

I am able to test if I am connected to US content Netflix, and the current setup, unlike the recent past, points to Romania, and I cannot stream US content Netflx, so, I fire up Surfshark proxy in Firefox, point to Los Angeles, on top of VPN.AC in the router, which does the trick, slows streaming a little, but works. I will keep doing this until the situation is resolved by VPN.AC, which I am certain it will be as they are the ducks guts of VPN services for my situation.
