Wierd behavior Running demo32 <demo.dbd> vs running demo32, and selecting my demo?

I am having the most bizarre problem.

I have a button that get's enabled, by a check for the OS version
early in the demo sequence. Now here comes the wierd part.

If I run my demo, by running "demo32.exe <demo.dbd>" or by using the
lauch.exe which does the same thing, the button never gets enabled.
(reglardless if i force the button to be enabled)

However,

If I run my demo by running demo32.exe, and then selecting my demo
when it prompts me for a dbd file, it works fine, or for example, by
just double-clicking on the .dbd file.

Please Help!
