It looks as though in the near future I may have to put together something
in Flash, I was wondering if anyone out there has used both Demoshield and
Flash. Are they alike? will I have an easer time having used Demoshield?

thanks

I have used both - although DemoShield more extensively that Flash.

DemoShield is quite simple compared to Flash. In my opinion, DemoShield
makes it easier to create a page-by-page type of demo. Flash is far better
for animations, transitions, and generally creating a more professional
product. It has better support for ActiveX (you can raise events).
DemoShield (from my experience) is much better as a tool for controlling
external applications, AVI movies, etc. But as I say, I am reasonably new
to Flash.

Having used DemoShield, the concept of the timeline, used in both products,
will be easier to understand. But again, Flash is far more capable than
DemoShield.

Hope this helps.

The biggest difference really lies in the fact that vector animation and
graphics will always win the "size war" when it comes to the web - and
that's where DemoX and DemoNow really loses out. Flash uses the vector
images to compress and display the images as well as move them around. These
images are tiny compared to the imported size of images brought into the
Demoshield format. Furthermore, since vector is a set of instruction (and
not a pixel command to display a bitmap), you can resize the presentation to
whatever browser size you are viewing. And of course, the bandwidth...well,
with DSL and ADSL making it's move into the consumer arena - you might think
that DemoX would really benefit - but yet again, you really have to be
careful with how you package the whole thing together. DSL can still take
along time to load the DemoX presentation, whereas Flash...well, it Flashes!
I set up my (former) company website for both high and low bandwidth. The
low uses Flash, and the High uses DemoX. Check em out and you'll see what I
mean. www.phippsinteractive.com

DemoX is cool and the ease of use wins, but the file size and lack of
"buffering" resources kills it's ability to be accepted to the web.
