Dear Bill,

I just tried copying an object to another scene and then went to that scene
and double clicked that object in the timeline editor and the properties
dialog came up as expected. So I am not sure what problems you are
experiencing.

In 6.50 we updated all our dialogs and part of it was to remove the text
editor since it was the only object that didn't go to the objects property
dialog box.when you double clicked it. Plus we heard complaints from our
users that double clicking the test object was not consistent with the other
objects. There are no plans to convert back.

Sincerely,

I agree with Bill that the text editor should come back. I wrote a post
about editing text a little while ago, it appeared and then disappeared(!?).
In summary, editing text now takes way too many steps, and having zero
control over font, bold, italics etc. on a per word basis is unacceptable -
in my opinion. You should be able to click on the text and edit it while it
is still on the page - not in a separate window. Most programs added this
capability in the mid 90's!

I think that whomever decided to remove the text editor does not use the
product! I also think that the developers should spend the hour it would
take to add a text editor. There are so many controls on the market to do
this it isn't funny (I have been developing software for some years).

I know there are many demos created that have minimal text, but large demos,
and mini-training systems need text editing capability.

Dear Jason,

I don't know why your post disappeared. What we would like to add is a
wysiwyg editor but I can't promise when that will be. I just want to let
you know there are no plans as of today to go back to the text editor.

Sincerely,
