Subject: Re: PDA SmartPhone Compatible CGP
Michel,
We are using NotifyLink, and it works.
We use Windows Mobile devices, and Windows Smartphones.
You get your mail, calendar, and contacts synchronized, "over the air".
Rup,
It's true that in a corporate environment, people ask for
mail/calendar/contacts remote sync onto a mobile device. And
fortunately, it
exists, and works.
You say: "I'm pretty sure that non of these are able to offer remote
syncing
of mail, calendar and contacts."
I wonder what problem you are encountering.
In the case of NotifyLink, you need to install NotifyLink server next
to
your CGPro (or use their hosted service)
You need to install NotifyLink's software on the device.
The device will then (via it's NotifyLink software, and the NotifyLink
server) do an initial sync with it's associated mailbox on the CGPro
server. It does not talk to Outlook on the user's desktop or notebook
PC. It does
not use ActiveSync.
For example, while the user travels, with only his mobile device, and
his
secretary back in the office has access to his Calendar, and updates it,
then the traveling user will see the appointment on his device. Same
thing
when someone sends him an e-mail. When he sends a message from his
device,
and later comes back to the office, he'll find it in his
outbox,...etc... If you want to use a Blackberry *device*, then you
should purchase a blank
one. Not configured for any Blackberry service, otherwise you'd first
have
to ask that system's admin to first remove that account from the device.
Then install NotifyLink software on it. Make sure you have the licenses
specific for Blackberry on you NotifyLink server. And syncing your
device
will happen. No Blackberry desktop syncing software involved..
Blackberry's *server* on the other hand would also be able to remotely
sync
the e-mail-only between the Blackberry *device* and the account on the
CGPro
server. But it won't remotely sync the calendar, nor the contacts with
the
device. I'm talking here about "BES" or Blackberry Enterprise Server,
maybe
that's what you referred to using the acronym 'bis'?
That's why I use NotifyLink.
To explain it again in a different way:
In a nutshell, Notifylink Enterprise Server ("NLES") does the same thing
between a CGPro account and a mobile device, as what "BES" does between
an
Exchange/Domino/GroupWise account and a mobile device. In both cases,
you
must have the appropriate software on the mobile device.
I hope this is not considered off-topic. After all, Notify is on
Stalker's
partner's page: http://www.stalker.com/content/partners_tech.html
And they worked together to make it work AFAIK.
I sincerely hope you can make it work on your devices too. Otherwise,
drop me a mail directly.
Regards,
Peter Leye

Hello All,
Let's be clear about Notifylink for CGP ~ Its Real-Time, Secure,
Synchronized Wireless Messaging, mirroring your email & PIM to the PDA.
Please see http://www.notifycorp.com/imap4_solutions/stalker/index.htm
for more information.

IMO the best (by far) email solution for PalmOS is Chatter Email, a full function IMAP implementation. I can't speak highly enough about the product and the support. I use it with 6 different CGPro IMAP accounts on two different servers, with SSL on both IMAP and SMTP <http://www.chatteremail.com/> or <http://get.chatteremail.com/> from the device. It positively _rocks_.

Have had great luck with SnapperMail 2.0 Enterprise on our Treo 600
and 650's. IMAP and SMTP over SSL, storage of mail directly on SD
card, etc. Has been fast and stable as well.
