Anyone with CGatePro experiences that would make the decision easy?
Thanks,
Chris

Go with debian - we've used CGpro on debian before without
any hassles.

RH changed the way the Kernel handles threads in RH9 and it appears that it
doesn't get along with CGPro yet.

Used both. Both work equally well. I find Debian easier to manage and
keep up to date with security updates, etc. Also, Debian installs less
STUFF, so it is more secure by default.
As you might have guessed, I much prefer Debian. But I also know that
both are built on the same Linux kernel and both will perform about the
same when running CGPro.

Along the same lines, I have been testing Gentoo linux. It installs
even less by default (as in no services running) and you must "emerge"
the services you want. It is wonderful. Ok, so it is a bit painful to
watch it download and compile every single application. But, it is part
of my idiotic quest for the most "optimized" linux server.

I'll risk flames and suggest "A Modest Proposal":
If you're not yet set in a particular OS distro, I'd suggest you look
at FreeBSD as a choice of free/open x86 OSes. In my
experience*/opinion, you'll find FreeBSD to be more stable than linux,
and it's incredibly easy to deal with.
(* I've run both over the years, at home, while working for cygnus and
redhat, and while working at UCSC, and FreeBSD has always been easy to
work with ... and linux has always been a pain; at cygnus, I worked
with redhat, debian, suse, mandrake, and slackware, but at UCSC I've
mostly just worked with redhat; and I've been using FreeBSD since 3.x
days)
And I'm not currently suffering from an insomnia attack, so I'm sure I
wont regret posting this ;-) (reference to my post from last night).
