since upgrade 5.4.1 Error Code=connection closed by peer

hi,
i dont now if it is since my upgrade to 5.4.1 but before
we have not this problem, i have some read failed. Error
Code=connection closed by peer
if you can help me ...

"connection closed by peer" means that the remote side explicitly
dropped the connection. That may be a problem with the remote side
configuration or some side-effect from anti-virus scanners between CGpro
and that remote server.

can you give me more details if possible and where can i
see on the console admin what you mean

we use anti-virus CGPClamAV Version 1.16 ClamAV 0.97
engine
it is not the latest Version 1.16.2 ClamAV 0.97.2 engine

Is there a document or a link to view all the error codes
contained in the logs, what that mean and what to do to
properly configure the server ?

hi,

that depends on the client.
the antivirus on the client could drop the connection if it is kept open too
long -would be one of many possible reasons.
maybe to much concurent connections from the same client.
i used mcafee enterprise edition. if u use that, you must take an eye on the
security-settings an blocking rules for example.
you could check the timeouts set for the specific services used.
full logging would be an option.

i experienced those errors also coming from some workstations using mapi or
httpu. there is a setting for client reservation, etc.
check the channels :-)

this is the message from the administrator of remote
server :
Of the last 8 hours, about 24% of SMTP sessions were
interrupted before the transfer of mail to our mail server

it is not for all the message but we have more problem
since this upgrade ..

i would ceck quality of my uplink, the channel-settings on cgp,
firewalls/timeouts.

I had similar symptoms as you,
ie after upgrade to 5.4.1 I was seeing alot of "Error Code=connection closed by peer"
This error is quite generic, eg mail client just disconnects/ gives up
But I though Id share my experience and hope its some interest to you and others.

Our problem was our CGP users could not connect our server to send mail when not on our LAN, even though this had been working fine before upgrade.
The problem was identified that CGP was not advertising SMTP authorisation to anyone other than "clients" ie those will LAN ip addresses.
Fix was Settings > Mail> Receiving> Advertise: AUTH to: (change to everybody from clients)
I dont think this is new setting so why it became such problem after upgrade Im not sure.
Fix was instant and simple
