PPOE, demon and cable

I have has a demon account for many years and receive my mail on this
account.

I now have a cable modem and connection via blueyonder. Whilst I can
retrieve mail from demon using POP and could configure fetchmail to receive
mail from demon, I am having problems with multiple mail addresses.

What I would like to do is have demon delivery my mail via SMTP, without
having to make a dial-up connection.

Can I do this with PPOE or is there an easier way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
