We have just aquired a Digital DECpc 450SLC/e Premium Notebook. However,
when I have looked for drivers/manuals for this product, I cannot seem to
find any mention of this particular machine. I can find details on the DECpc
425 and 433 models, but the specifications of these seem to differ from what
we have. How does the DECpc 450 differ from the other models. I am
particularly interested to know where I can locate manuals and driver files.

Thanks

If this is the unit with a beige, semi suede cover. THROW THE DAMN THING
AWAY . It was junk, is junk and always will be junk.

It was OEM'd from a German company and damn near ruined my belief in German
quality.

No, it has a Digital leather cover and is manufactured in Italy. It is a 486
DX2/50 with 8MB of RAM, 320MB HDD, a single type III PCMCIA slot, a
side-mounted pop-out trackball, a seperate numeric keypad above the main
keyboard and an 8.8inch colour LCD display. It also appears to have sound
capabilities as it has a microphone socket and a volume control. I have not
been able to find drivers for it though. It is finished in a curious dark
green plastic.

Digital is known for their use of Olivetti hardware for their machines
with x86 architecture. Olivetti is an Italian hardware manufacturer.
Many x86 based Digital products are actually Olivetti models with
Digital stamped on it.

I don't know if there are still drivers available, I tried
www.olivetti.com, at first glance I found nothing. But you are welcome
to try yourself.

This was a European model, separate from the DECpc 433 and 425. The
450SLC/e was probably built by Olivetti for Digital, while the 433 and 425
were made by AST for the US market.

I'd start my search on the UK side of the Digital/Compaq web pages, but it
may be that this information has been archived and is no longer online....

Trouble is, Olivetti computer has gone into liquidation and their web server
has been shut down. Does anyone know of another location for Olivetti
drivers?
