I have a number of AVI files that have four cc code I420 which is Indeo
Video 4. I have Indeo Video 4 codecs installed on both the Mac and
Windows machines. In QuickTime on either platform, the movie opens,
QuickTime gives a message saying "You may experience problems with the
file whatever.avi because a required decompressor could not be found."
The video is white, the audio plays fine. In QuickTime Player the Get
Info, Video Track, Format shows I420. Indeo Video 4 is installed.

The same movies play fine in Microsoft Active Movie in Windows 98.

I opened an Indeo3 AVI in QuickTime and exported it as an Indeo 4 AVI -
that movie plays fine in all software BUT the Get Info, Video Track,
Format shows Indeo Video 4.4 in QuickTime on both platforms - the actual
four cc code is IV41 - I can not find any reference to this code on any
of the AVI registries online - I believe that QuickTime is using the
wrong code???

Can anyone tell me how to get Indeo 4 AVI's to play in QuickTime?!?!?!?

Thanks!

I'm not sure quite what it is but AFAIK it is NOT Indeo V4.

As I understand it these are different codecs, there is deffinitely an
I263 codec which is unplayable on a Mac and none of the Indeo codecs
work with it, it looks like I420 is a similar beast, finding information
on them or getting them for even Windows machines without them
pre-installed is pretty difficult.
