I'm having trouble using Premier Connect on my Apple Mac G3 with Global
Village external modem.

When I try to connect through 0844 099 6662 or 0844 041 6662, the modem
dials out and then, a few seconds later, I get the alert:

===============================================
Apple Remote Access

The modem is not responding properly. Reset the
modem, check its connections and check that the
correct port and modem type are selected in the
Modem control panel.
===============================================

I can still access Demon through the normal numbers e.g. 0845 212 0666

What have I done wrong?

Regards,
Ian.

Me too.

I keep meaning to try a delay after dialing, by edding a comma after the
phone number. My memory is like a sive these days! Someone else posted
this on uk.comp.sys.mac.

It happened for me during the first few days of me trying, but then settled
down to working. It now seems as secure and good as the ordinary numbers,
ie very reliable. Occasionally I get a problem which I have not
investigated, but an immediate new attempt works.
