Graham; I can't help you with any real expertise with this, except to say
that adding a modern IDE drive should be perfectly possible, and there will
be no BIOS to play with (this is one of the reasons it was so nice to move
across to a Mac all those years ago). But there are details to get right,
like what formatter to use and the jumper settings. As for space being
available, I think it would depend on which model of Mac it was- desktop or
tower.

There are loads of genuinely expert people in uk.com.sys.mac who will know
all about these questions; the Demon mac groups are very little used now,
because everybody including Demon Maccers has migrated to uk.comp.sys.mac,
so I've cross posted this to u.c.s.m and set the follow-ups there too.
