Connection problems

Bother! I've got connection problems. :(

I'm using AmiTCP 4.0 the Installation from the Demon ftp site and have had
no probs for ages. For some reason though my system is failing to log in
now, this has been going on for the last 48 hours or so. I found that if I
pick up the phone next to my desk, and here the modem doing it's dialing,
the Demon side rings once, I hang up - then usually it works and I connect
okay, but if I just try and connect without picking up the phone, it
always fails.

I'm using the 0845-2121666 number, but I found if I use the 0845-3505033
number I get a little bit further, I see HELLO come up in the dialer
window, and then nothing. :-/

Any suggestions people?

I suspect BT, I've had similar, and found that ringing in (from a mobile)
then dialling Demon helped. Knowing you, I don't suppose you've fiddled to
break it, so it's most likely them.

Try listening to the line for noise, on my line it was so bad, even BT
faults didn't ask what the problem was. It tended to be worse when it
rained as well.
