Hi all,
I've recently (over the last week) had a problem with my
connection suddenly being dropped for no apparent reason. The modem, a USR
28.8 Sportster which has no sound, doesn't indicate I've lost the
connection, but I clearly have. If I can't finger status@gate, and all
other activity has suddenly stopped then I'm assuming something's probably
not right. :)

I called Demon, who apparently "don't support the Amiga" :) and managed to
get one person to suggest I changed my Demo phone number from a 01749
nuber to an 0845 number. I've done this, but it's too early to say if
things have improved at all yet. I have had the line dropped once,
immediately after connection, with the newer number though.

So has anyone else being experiencing any problems? Any advice?

All the best,

(Is there anyway of recovering from this once it has happened without
logging off? My experience indicates not.)

Thanks Dave. Well, I've not had the problem yet with the 0845 number but
what it sometimes does is just drop the connection immediately after I've
connected. I get the HELLO appear in me little window, and then nothing. I
also can't then get rid of the dialer window without rebooting. Bother! :)

Dave, and anyone else listening, I've had some response form Demon, and so
far things are looking good.

The first guy suggested I use the following number instead of my old 01749
number:

0845-3505033

This was better but would frequntly drop connection immediately after
connecting.

The second guy I spoke to said the above number was primarily for Demon
games, and that I should use:

0845-2121666

Which has given me no problems whatsoever. :)

Purple is same kit as the G4/G5 (Surftime numbers).

Green is 3COM, which works better with USR modems.

I'm not surprised, apparently if the user's courage is imperfect, the
black romp will annihilate his soul.

Sorry, quiet Sunday. :)
