I keep getting back from my mail server:
Connection to recipients server failed.

because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of
time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed

I think there is an alternative that is supposed to be free but the last
time I looked at it it struck me as a way to harvest valid email
addresses.

Their site tcp.int is still up and running.
There is an option to send a fax from there.
I tried a test and it confirmed that it had been sent:
Your message has been sent by email to
remote-pr...@44870xxxxxxx.iddd.tpc.int
When the fax is sent, a confirmation message will be sent to
off...@yyyyyyy.co.uk
I'll report if I get either the email or the fax.

Nothing received - no fax and no email. Gone into a black hole.

It worked for me just fine on 8 January this year, but seems to be
non-functional now.

I just received a bounce email for the test I sent on the 3rd March.

The other day I visited http://www.tpc.int/faq/contactus.html and
sent an email as invited to tpcc...@info.tpc.int
That came back from the best MX host as undeliverable, so I suspect TPC
may be history.
