>I'm still waiting for last week's "need to know" mailing (www.ntk.net).
>It normally arrives on Friday afternoons....
This was looked into ! (I don't think I'm leaking any secrets when I say
that quite a number of Demon staff are long-standing readers of NTK...
so the missing issue was spotted quite quickly).
In last week's issue, in the "Anti-News" section was the link:
<URL:http://www.avn.com/?Primary_Navigation=Articles&Action=View_Article
&Content_ID=72431>
put there because NTK were lampooning the "abstract web illustration"
http://www.avn.com/imagearchive/07/24/31/72431mydoom_lead.jpg
However, AVN is the Adult Verification Network site and hence spam often
refers to similar sorts of URLs --- and it seems that Brightmail's rule
for detecting these was a little too fuzzy :(
They will be fixing this for the future -- as to the past, you can of
course view last week's NTK issue at http://www.ntk.net/2004/02/06/
I think [once they've scrabbled through their mail logs to see which
other recipients were caught out by this -- instant market penetration
survey!!] we must all look forward to ascerbic commentary in the
upcoming 2004/02/13 :-(
I wonder if they'll spell my name right :)

In their acerbic (sic) commentary, do you mean?
AAMOI, how many million messages have gone through Brightmail so far, or
does the stopped NTK count as only one false positive, rather than one
per Demon subscriber? :-)

Or more specifically, how many non-spam(*) messages has the Demon
implementation of Brightmail delivered?
(*)this is multi-valued, depending on your definition of
"spam". That's been flogged to death in other threads, of course.
Edit the address in the sig to reply by email if you so wish.
