I decided to rebuild my News database. When I reconnected to Demon, 188
items of old News appeared, nearly all dated November.

Is it me or is it them?

I'd guess the new news appears in sparsely populated groups. This
usually happens for me when I rebuild databases - I think something gets
reset as to the last new news downloaded.

If you are rebuilding databases for tidiness sake, or to fully purge a
deleted newsgroup, it is well work making sure all groups have been
read, so you can be pretty sure the now "to be read" stuff is just
repeated.
