Turned off news.tornevall.com when it had problems as I get a few
newsgroups from there.

Ticked the box to get news again when I got the email saying it was now
back online. Ticked when I was here briefly between Xmas and New Year.

Looking at news posts on the 4th Jan I discovered that there had been no
new posts in any group since (unusual) and my post to unnm(anagement)
Message-ID: <tKIaTeKG...@fishcake.eternal-september.org>
hadn't come back in reasonable time - and was posted via Tornevall not
E-S once I found the problem and got news articles by backdating.

Bit of digging I found that every newsgroup available on tornevall was
now subscribed via there even though the server that the newsgroup was
previously subscribed via was news.eternal-september.org or news.dcu

Not only that but looking at the newsgroup properties they were all set
to received the most recent 0 articles which explains why there had been
no new posts anywhere in 5 days.

Seems to be a bug that I doubt will be fixed unless there's a TP6.08 and
it's deemed worthy of fixing so more a post to warn that people they
might want to check which newsgroup is associated with which server if
they add or turn on a news server.

Thanks for the tip. When I'm out of range of my usual newsserver
(staying with friends on an alternative ISP for example), I generally
just manually switch a few 'groups to an alternative server for the
duration - I don't usually turn off the 'server. I will watch for this
behaviour if I should ever actually turn one off (and on again).
