Exchange and ISDN dial-up remaining connected

We have an MS Exchange server that dial's in to demon (using a Zyxel
OmniNet+ and BT ISDN 2e) every two hours, gets the mail and then disconnects
after 5 minutes of inactivity. This works fine for most of the time but
occasionally it will stay connected for hours (days even, unless we spot
it!).

Does anyone know why this would be? It seems to happen more often than not
in the evenings and at the weekends (just when we're not around to stop it!)
but this more qualitative than quantitative - I have better things to do
with my time than monitor the ISDN line.
Any help greatfully received.
