I still keep an eye on the group for old times sake. But I think it's
ten years or more - maybe a lot more - since I last saw a new post here.

Well there's me.

I've just re-installed Turnpike 5 and the old newsgroups popped up.

How long ago did Bryan post that, I wonder.

So what led you to reinstall it?

I take it you're not using it for email as well, as once you've stopped
using it - even if it's in favour of TP 6 - AIUI there isn't really any
going back if you want to still have access to your old messages.

My computer that Turnpike runs on crashed 4 days ago while running
another program

When I rebooted I had to rebuild my news database. When that finished I
discovered I had over 900 "new" news items over many groups I'd
contributed to over the years, some going back many years

Don't know if these were re downloaded from a newsserver which still had
them on their servers or whether, deep in the bowels of Turnpike, they
had never been deleted

Thanks for satisfying my idle curiosity. The original message was far
too recent for me to remember it. :)

That is 'normal'. Another 'normality' is that some 'saved' news posts
will have become 'unsaved'.
