Why so slow at the moment? Is it just me?

Each time I've logged on in the last week it's been taking 1-2 minutes
to go from one website to the next (visiting sites I've been to before
at the same times of day). Is this part of a general go-slow or is it
just me?

I don't have ISDN, I'm using a 56K modem - but previously I've been
able to surf the net much quicker than this.
