Plantsvs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 adds a new split screen mode for local two-player co-op. This guide will walk you through starting up a split screen match through the Plant and Zombie mission hub areas.
In both the Plant and Zombie sides, you're looking for a glowing yellow structure that looks like two old television sets stacked on top of each other. From the spawn point and facing towards the Quest Board, the Split Screen icon is behind you to the left. If you turn to face the main gate and look to your right, it is between the Character Select and the right-side gate. In both hubs, there is a small staircase between the Character Select and the Split Screen, but the space is a little wider on the zombie side.
When facing the Split Screen structure, press the button prompt (B on Xbox One, O on PlayStation 4). You'll be prompted to connect a second controller, and once you do, you can enjoy playing local couch co-op with your friends and family.

Ok so you can play with your sister or girlfriend or whoever you want using split screen on the same console. Here how to do it. From the backyard battleground ( zombie or plant side) find a glowing yellow structure that looks like two old televisions stacked on top of each other (split screen icon I guess) and press it. This should allow you to connect another controller and play split screen. Hope this helps. I know my boys are very excited!!
I have a problem when I go into spit screen , in GW1 both players were able to plant and use character customization and here only the first player can do both, is this the way this game is or are we doing something wrong>
Yes, for up to a year post-launch, we will be giving all players of the original Garden Warfare the ability to transfer almost all the characters they have unlocked into Garden Warfare 2 right from launch. The only exception being the four promotional characters: Berry Shooter, Citrus Cactus, Chester Chomper and Dr. Chester.
You will not need Xbox Live Gold or PS+ to play the game. All local play features (solo play and local split screen), can be experienced with an internet connection only. If you want to jump online to play with friends you will require Xbox Live Gold or PS+.

The eternal struggle betwixt Plants and Zombies continues with Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2. Unlike it's predecessor, which only had the Garden Ops co-op mode, Garden Warfare 2 offers a variety of ways for you to play with friends. So here are a few answers to all those frequent questions you're asking.
Two players are supported for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. To enable splitscreen, the first play must find the splitscreen console located within the Plants or Zombies home base in the Backyard Battleground. Once the player interacts with the console, there will be an onscreen prompt asking the other player to press a button on his/her controller to join.
Only if the second player has an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus account so that his/her account can connect to the EA servers. If the second player does not have an account with these services, then they cannot earn experience or coins, they cannot unlock new characters, and you cannot engage in any online activities. You can still setup local Garden Ops and Graveyard Ops matches, as well as local matches for any of the multiplayer modes.
Friends can be invited into your Backyard Battleground and you can then start a Graveyard/Garden Ops game from the appropriate console. You can also setup a private session from within the Graveyard/Garden Ops menus and invite friends from there.
Yes. All experience and coins earned by players while playing online with their friends will be saved. Additionally, any characters, abilities, consumable items, or customization items you unlock by opening sticker packs are also saved.
All multiplayer modes - Team Vanquish, Vanquish Confirmed, Herbal Assault, Gnome Bomb, Suburbination, and Gardens & Graveyards - can be played with a group of friends against A.I. bots. You do not have to play against other players. Each of these modes support up to 12 players on one team, so you could setup a team of 12 humans against 12 bots. Any open spots on a team are automatically filled with an A.I. bot.
There is also Infinity Time.
Infinity Time is a new co-op mode for Garden Warfare 2 that becomes available after you have completed all quests for either the Plants or the Zombies. This is a wave-based horde mode where you have to fight off as many garden gnomes as possible. Every 5th wave will pit you against a gnome boss.
To start an Infinity Time session (after you've unlocked it), you will need to use the appropriate terminal in Crazy Dave-bot 3000.1's base or in Zomboss' secret underground facility. Both of these are located within their respective side's home base in the Backyard Battleground. Once you activate the terminal, you can start a session if you have at least 5 stars, which are earned by completing quests from the Quest Board.
Up to four players, and no. Only the host has to have Infinity Time unlocked. The host invites the other players to his/her Backyard Battleground, and then starts the mode from the appropriate console.
Unlike in any of the other game modes, your character's health does not regenerate. Picking up the time shards dropped by defeated gnomes will heal 50 health. You also cannot revive a downed player. Players will automatically revive at the start of each wave at 500 health.
PvZ Garden Warfare on PS4 and Xbox One allows you to team up with a friend on the same screen and same console. This Split Screen mode is only available for the Garden Ops game mode. A third friend can join as Crazy Dave in Boss Mode using Xbox Smartglass for the Xbox One and by either using the Playstation Vita or the PlayStation App on Apple iOS for the Playstation 4. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions do not feature split-screen co-op.
Boss Mode is a next gen exclusive mode that allows one player to command the battlefield from the skies. This mode is available in all PvZ:GW game modes. Only one player per team can use Boss Mode at a time. Team Plant's Boss is Crazy Dave in his flying RV, and Team Zombie's Boss is Dr. Zomboss in his ZomBlimp.
To start Boss Mode, all you need to do is select "Boss Mode" from the character spawn screen. The game will switch to a birds eye view of the map with sticker-like images that marks each character below.
This mode is simple. Collect sun drops (Team Plants) or brains (Team Zombies) until you earn enough to use the four abilities. Each ability costs a specific amount of sun drops/brains before it can be used. After it is used, you must wait a short cool down period before it can be used again.
When playing Boss Mode with Kinect, hover your hand over resources to collect them. To use an ability, hover your hand over it and close your fist to grab it. Drag your fist to the desired target and open your hand to unleash the ability.
I realize that you are talking about the splitscreen, I'm not a dolt. All I'm saying is that the online play was the MAIN focus of this game as it is in almost all multiplayer games in the modern era. I think the split screen was just tacked on as a selling point for the Xbox One so that more people might invest in the new console.
But who knows, maybe they'll improve it and implement more features for it in the near future. Pop Cap has already stated that the first new content launch will be in early March. That's only a couple weeks away at most.
Yes, the "Split Screen" that was such a big feature with the XBOX One was SNAP.. not multiplayer functionality. The multiplayer is determined by the game, not by the console. Your issue is that you have a 2nd player signed in and they cannot earn coins or progress their GamerTag in achievements, etc. I can't name a single game on the XBOX One that lets you play multiplayer and both accounts unlock achievements other then the Lego games.
he has a legitimate complaint, I wanted to play split screen with my GF and was super disappointed that we couldn't pass wave 4 without dying and without using my custom characters or earning coins / challenges / achievements.
It would be nice if they would add to the split screen options for this game, especially if they gave you the option to play the online modes splitscreen with bots. I've got a friend that likes to play my games when he visits, but he doesn't really like playing online because he isn't that good so it gets frustrating to keep getting beat up on. And this game in particular is perfect for split screen with it being a goofy 3rd person shooter. And its not like the graphics are so good the console cant handle it.
This whole trend of either gimping or not including split screen options that started with 360 really pisses me off. I mean, sure online play can be great and all, but not everyone always wants to play online with people they don't know.
